I need a VPS for storage - not more than $50/year
Hi,
First of all, want to thank you guys for running this amazing site. Really useful stuff here.
I am moving my sites and other online applications from shared hosting to VPS. I already have VPS with Linode, Vultr and VPSdime for different purposes.
Right now my requirement is for one cheap VPS that I want to use mainly for storage. My budget is not more than $50/year.
Other than that quite often I need to test some applications on a single server and buying VPS doesn't make sense every time, Linode has this option to create multiple drives and boot from any of them, which is great but out of my budget. Is there other similar VPS service provider, where I can create multiple drives and boot from any of them as required.
Thanks a lot!
-Ravi

storage : crissic, ramnode, hosthatch, iniz then nexhost, aggressivenetworks [ you may need to ask first ]
for apps take advantage of hourly billing : digitalocean, runabove , vultr
About how much are we talking?
boltvm.com, nexhost, crissic, ramnode.
Or maybe @MSPNick with NATVPS.uk
How much storage space do you need?
backupsy offers around $72/year (after 40% lifetime discount) for 250GB. Looks good to me. Not sure if this price will be always discounted or not.
Just trying if I can get anything similar for around $50 or less. I probably won't need 250GB, it is too much for me.
IIRC, a buyvm.net 250GB storage KVM VPS is $7/mo or $70/year if you buy annually. The annual discount isn't shown until you go into their ordering system. @Francisco would know for sure or just go look for yourself :-)
.
Delimiter has two options:
Storage VPS
$5/month or $60/year

Atom Dedicated Server
$60/year

Got myself a "Thunder 2048" (200GB) from BoltVM for that purpose, works really well! But you have to find some promo to stay below your limit...
It's funny crissic, provider2, provider3 etc gets a mention before xenpower is mentioned
@drserver has storage nodes in TX that may work for you.
If you don't need IPV4, ask if some providers will do a cheaper IPV6 only storage VPS.
Looks like Zxhost still have some LET storage specials on stock. $45 800GB.

Is OpenVZ alright? We can do something in Los Angeles, maybe our 4GB RAM OpenVZ plan (300GB disk space) for $50/year? Does that sound alright?
Why do you want a VPS for storage ?
Get yourself a Cheap VPS and Storage from Hubic
Affordable and gets your work done
I would trust hubic from OVH than some random cheap VPS provider
defiantly backupsy. Good price and they are reliable. it that is too expensive maybe you don't need a vps. just something like dropbox with ftp?
@icry hubic doesn't give you the full control of your files. OP also stated he wants to be able to test applications.
Thanks for the links. I am checking it.
It says out of stock when I tried
Yes indeed I want a VPS.
Also, about my second question. Is there any provide who has the ability to multi boot the machines from different images. Like Linode.
Not sure if they are still in stock, but ZXPlay had a nice offer for an OpenVZ VPS with 800GB of Storage for $7/Month or $45/Year: http://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/49956/zxplay-eu-storage-vps-dedicated-resources-back-by-popular-demand/
KVM 250GB $4.75/month OR $47.5/year
Dallas, Texas, USA
