EDIS Iceland?

larslars Member

Does anyone have any experience with EDIS in Iceland? Is the network good, and do you have any uptime stats?

Thanks in advance.

    17:01:03 up 265 days, 5:56, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.01, 0.05

    It's mostly reliable. I don't think network is particularly great, but it usually works alright; mostly you get what you expect with EDIS. I just use the VM as TCP tunnel though. I have a 256 MB KVM plan.

  • Network is just the default Thor/Advania blend - I don't think they have any local peering anymore in the budget segment so everything goes to London. Packetloss got resolved some months ago, solid IPv4 since then. Advania IPv6 is next to unuseable but thats to blame on Thor/Advania.

    Had an OVZ plan with them last year, there were some blips in Aug-Sep but seems to have been fixed by Dec. Network was a bit slow but okay (only used ipv4, hadn't tested ipv6). I had a web stack on the vps with Wordpress and Owncloud and it was there when I needed it. Overall a steady vps.

    Old stats from Sep:

    $ wget freevps.us/downloads/bench.sh -O - -o /dev/null|bash CPU model : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5645 @ 2.40GHz Number of cores : 2 CPU frequency : 2400.044 MHz Total amount of ram : 512 MB Total amount of swap : 2 MB System uptime : 87 days, 4:40, Download speed from CacheFly: 1.16MB/s Download speed from Coloat, Atlanta GA: 291KB/s Download speed from Softlayer, Dallas, TX: 509KB/s Download speed from Linode, Tokyo, JP: 430KB/s Download speed from i3d.net, Rotterdam, NL: 827KB/s Download speed from Leaseweb, Haarlem, NL: 788KB/s Download speed from Softlayer, Singapore: 447KB/s Download speed from Softlayer, Seattle, WA: 1.20MB/s Download speed from Softlayer, San Jose, CA: 757KB/s Download speed from Softlayer, Washington, DC: 1.64MB/s I/O speed : 183 MB/s

    Don't buy their OVZ range, it is oversold ;_;

    Edit: extremely oversold, couldn't use 50%-ish of my allocated RAM some days ago

    Yeah, doesn't really look that good to be honest. Will probably go for another provider in Iceland.
