Strange issue with ZNC

I have setup ZNC for IRC bouncer but for some reason it does not connect to the IRC network.

I started on DO VPS and it worked perfect. I redid it on my CC VPS with exact same config etc. but not work.

I can login in bouncer and get welcome. After while status message me this:

while on DO it works.

Try with a specific server instead of the rotation just in case: https://freenode.net/irc_servers.shtml

Do a traceroute to the server and post the results if it still doesn't work.

Maybe you could try to use this page and use the closest location to your vps. If you still can't connect, maybe the vps ip were blocked from using irc, or maybe the port for irc were blocked, or maybe freenode banned the whole CC IP.

That closest one to Buffalo (I think)

I don't think the IP or port are blocked. Just tried connecting with OpenVPN from my PC to VPS to freenode and it works. Only when connect using bouncer it error. CC has strange network.. hmm.

I doubt that's "strange" CC network fault. What I usually do when some bouncer doesn't work is to try to connect to IRC with irssi to see if there's irc connectivity at all.

apt-get install irssi

And then to quickly run and connect irssi to irc server:

irssi
/server morgan.freenode.net

/quit

Also try to add to your bouncer IRC server IP instead of hostname (ie. 64.32.24.176 instead of morgan.freenode.net)

Yup. Seems like there is IRC connectivity with irssi.

Install openssl-dev stuff and recompile znc, try putting the server IP address not hostname into ZNC also.

since you say IRSSI works, so the problem is with your firewall. do you have any port blocked in your iptable or whatever firewall tool you use?
