I removed the link as your link forces pop up ads. Promotion is one thing, but not that way. Direct link below. In future be clear about your benefit from people clicking through to your blog so they have the choice.

Trial period ends in: 1 days 09:14:07

After creating an instance I am unable to get a ping response, or SSH into the server. Has anyone else has this problem?

@skunk I launched another instance and was able to SSH in via the private IP. From there it started working (I don't know what fixed it). The network is pretty nice -- anyone have a clue where it's at?

Ubuntu initially failed while Centos worked.

Would be interested to see it :-)

  • I used that trial some time ago. I got an i3 3xxxU instead of these 4xxx. The "SSD" doesn't seem like that, and at first I expected a DESKTOP processor tbh.

Isn't much of an SSD - thats more like a HDD

  • I wonder where did they get these i3-4010U CPUs and on what motherboards. The "U" series are laptop processors. Not even desktop.

It's most likely an Intel NUC or similar (these CPUs are not available socketed), one of these: http://geizhals.at/?fs=i3-4010U&cat=barepc

lspci could confirm this by showing a Wifi card - If they didn't remove it.

  • As suspected thats a NUC: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856102053&cm_re=D34010WYK--56-102-053--Product

60$ is highly overpriced for such a box.

Nice catch. Now it's easy to see how this offer is sustainable.
