Need Dedicated Server for Storage
I am looking for a dedicated server that can offer me at least 2TB of storage for under $50 a month. I would need a decent CPU as well.
It being in North America would be critical and at least having a pretty good port so I can download fast. Can't do VPS since the one I'm with is very limiting with what I am trying to do, it gets slow at some times.

Where do you see that?
@camjac251 watch for a restock. They have opteron boxes with 2x2TB for $35 and $40/mo.
Currently there's only 3 listings I see right now, so more show up when they're available?
Are they any good?
They restock during the week, morning eastern time. And yes, Dacentec is quite good.
How early in the morning.
@camjac251 I don't know.. 8-9am local time?
Set a check on UptimeRobot for "$35.00 USD" or "$40.00 USD" - follow the pricing scheme they use on the current listed ones, and then you'll get notified when they pop up.
They may not have those specific boxes for a day, a week, who knows. They had a ton of stock and then they all got snapped up over the last month and a bit.
When was the last time they were in stock, you know?
2 days back
keep a watch on the facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Dacentec?ref=ts&fref=ts
The last post was February 5th.
correct. but always worth watching. they dont always update it true. but they sometimes have discounts like $10 for first month^
@MarkTurner where are you
Two (actually 3) ways to do :
Dual X5150, 16GB RAM, 500GB Disk then upgrade it to 2 x 1TB use RAID controller for RAID0 - $20+$5+$15 = $40/month for 4 cores, 16GB RAM, 2TB disk, 5TB on GE port
http://www.delimiter.com/landingpage/servers2015/?p=X515016500
Dual L5420, 16GB RAM, 1TB Disk then add second 1TB disk and use RAID controller for RAID0 - $39+$15 = $54/month for 8 cores, 16GB RAM, 2TB disk, 10TB on GE port
http://www.delimiter.com/landingpage/servers2015/?p=L5420161000
i3-4130 (modern i3), 8GB RAM, 1TB Disk - $39 and swap out 1TB disk for 2TB +$5/month = $44/month for 2 cores, 8GB RAM, 2TB disk, 10TB on GE
http://www.delimiter.com/landingpage/servers2015/?p=I3413081000
Why use Raid0? That'll reduce the lifespan of the drives by a ton.
Could you match, in a way, or offer less for less money Dacentec's Deal?
They have a deal
Opteron 1385 2.70GHZ 8GB RAM 2x2TB SATA
Gigabit Port
10 TB monthly transfer.
for $40 a month.
webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1451624
I don't need the 4TB, but if I did get 2x2TB I'd do raid 1 and have 2tb to use for things.
HP Blade servers use 2.5" disks and we use 500GB and 1TB disks. So 2TB = 2 x 1TB.
The i3 is a 1U pizza box and the L5420 could also be provided as a pizza box if necessary.
How many bays are there? Could I have 4 1tb drives?
Don't forget storage is useless if you don't have the BW that allow you to use it. 2TB with 5 TB is totally useless if you do frequent heavy backups.
@camjac251 - Its two bays on the blade servers. I think look at the L5420 and we'll deliver as an HP DL160 (4 3.5" bays) then you can have 2 x 2TB or 4 x 2TB if you want.
Would you have anything in Dallas by chance?
@camjac251 - Delimiter has servers in Dallas, its best to check stock with Steve ([email protected])
you might want to google delimiter before purchasing. they have a record of bad service and questionable tax records. and they are not an open company
We had an inquiry in our chats about this but, the user did not leave their email. Like I said we haven't gotten this on our site yet and that person can pm me if interested.
Also note, X5150 and L5420s are DDR2. That is why they are much cheaper.
