I'm not a folding@home expert but I'm pretty sure you can give up restrictions with the hardware usage.

I never understood why people buy a VPS if they have no use for it...
give them to indians. A lot of them want free vpses.

Don't get me wrong...I would love to have a use for tons and tons of servers. But I don't.
Some people may purchase it because they had a need for it at the time, others purchase it because it's really that amazing of a deal and they feel they will save money in the long run by having the resources available at a much cheaper price.
I have a use for many servers, filling my Observium map.
