Cheap wilcard ssl

Hi guys:

Any ssl provider that offers a cheap or promo wilcard ssl.

Thank you guys.

  • I think, VMBox currently has a promo with a decent cheap VPS and an included AlphaSSL wildcard cert. for 20 or so bucks a year. I think they even offer multiple locations.

I got one and am quite happy.

Gonna check what are they offering, thank you ;)

Cheaper to buy a $3 vps from vmbox, get 1 year free alpha wildcard SSL and cancel vps at the end the month.

Or keep the vps and use it for hosting DNS or something, or donate it to someone in need.

That seems kind of rude. Spend the 20 for a year at least. Sure, the SSL doesn't really cost them anything overall, but 20 for a wildcard is a decent price and at least the provider sees some profit off of it in some fashion.

To each their own I suppose. Vmbox hasn't been a bad provider overall. Haven't experienced any down time at least... Worth giving them a fair shake.

I understand your point of view but what I said is what a lot of people do. I see it posted around all the time

I'm sure that it happens. Just seems dirty. Like I said, no real loss for them in the end. Matter of time until they remove the free ssl for anything less than a year. Makes sense that way anyways since the cert is for a year.

Yeah. It would make more sense to give it for free if people bought a vps for more than one month (quarterly, semiannually, annually) etc.

But since It costs them nothing its better they get $3 for a person who wants just the SSL as opposed to nothing.

people want things as cheap as possible.

Like how companies outsourcing staff to keep costs down

It's not dirty, and VMbox have recommended doing that themselves.

At the end of the day you still have tried out their VPS service, have signed up in their WHMCS, etc -- so the free SSL made you their customer, if not for long (yet). That should qualify as a good enough return on the free SSL promo for them.

  • I think this is a better deal and doesn't feel dirty at all:

    http://lowendtalk.com/discussion/41073/cloudcommando-lighting-up-your-late-new-year-gitlab-observium-piwik-wildcard-ssl-from-5-yr/

Wildcard ssl included with $5/yr observium. :)

  • @Pyr02k1

I feel similarly. Yes, even a VMBox guy wrote it himself. But I feel it to be unfair anyway. In particular as the VPS coming with it is quite decent and generous for a cheap VPS.
I don't care if it's legal or even if VMBox themselves suggest it. I consider it greedy and unfair and so I don't f-ck around but take the VPS for the full year. That's the deal and it's a good deal at that.

Warning, owned by a known scammer. Look up Soliddragon and other companies started by him. This is very dirty, and there's no telling how long before this venture disappears too.

Still got myself a wildcard for $10

I am aware, from what I know he resells SSLs from https://cheapsslsecurity.com

Once I've got the cert which I have I've no other reason to deal with him.

  • Get a plan from @0xdragon, or check http://seccert.io

$58.36/yr is the cheapest plan there.. Think of the fraud that's quite probably going on.

  • It is reqlly cheap, but is not fake, scamm or something?

    Thanks in advance.

    Second that...
You can do that and have a hosted Observium for the price of a nickel. =)

    Looks cool. Thanks.

  • FYI from 1st April 2015 - CAs SHALL NOT issue certificates with validity periods longer than 39 months (https://cabforum.org/wp-content/uploads/BRv1.2.3.pdf - see page 13)

So if you want a long validity SSL cert, now is the time to do it.

I had planned to buy SSL certificate from this https://cheapsslsecurity.com; but i wasn't not sure about costing when I'd compare prices between other SSL provider, I just saw huge difference of money in this CheapSSLSecurity's cost.

I had asked them why this difference of amount when you offer same SSL certificate at the cheapest price compare to others. They replied that they have managed costing through small team of support and it was the reason that their price is too low in this SSL security industry.

However, they had done pretty good in support in my case. It was slow support but they replied me whenever i had issue with my certificate. I recommend them as the lowest one in SSL certificate security with bit slow support.

That is a scam, yes. It's owned by a guy who has run multiple scams.

Remember your cert could be revoked by the CA if the reseller is not following their terms and conditions, such as offering ridiculous discount.

I think paying annually is even "dirtier" as you get the service with it at a lower price. Better just pay them one month and cancel later to limit their cost.
