Down for me or down for all?

Thanks for the reply, I'll follow your twitter. Why not host your main website somewhere else?

  • @fan

I will certainly pass on the suggestion to our technical team. The Data center is working as fast as they can to restore the traffic.

Note: I do not have an account I am just making an observation based on traceroutes from 18 different networks around the world.

Seems like a really cheap mix of Cogentco, He.net, Level3 and some Savvis... peering to euro is kinda laggy, some countries even fail completely (.PK and a few others). From my cable i make 100ms to decent euro, the avg from this network is around 148ms, and avg in US is 63ms.

Also, your test files don't work:

     wget http://www.stylexnetworks.com/test100.bin
    --2012-08-07 11:46:14-- http://www.stylexnetworks.com/test100.bin
    Resolving www.stylexnetworks.com... 216.24.245.200
Connecting to www.stylexnetworks.com|216.24.245.200|:80... failed: Connection timed out.
    Retrying.
    --2012-08-07 11:46:36-- (try: 2) http://www.stylexnetworks.com/test100.bin
Connecting to www.stylexnetworks.com|216.24.245.200|:80... failed: No route to host.

(Also, is it common practice to give a test file that is in a different location than the test ip you give, cause the traceroute to 216.24.245.200 takes a different route than 108.166.200.4 posted in this offer, a bit misleading..)

    Oops?

Should buy a little better mix or setup some better peering agreements, some of the traceroutes make me cringe:

(For Example, what is with going through every level3 router in Washington and then every routers in LA before we can get to the network)

traceroute to 108.166.200.4 (108.166.200.4), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets

There are a few others like this depending on the location. Especially some of the cogentco routing. (I guess that's expected with cogents cheap bw though....)

For the price you pay, maybe you get what you pay for, as they do offer a pretty decent amount of transfer. I might consider it if there was a decent amount of storage to go with it.

Thanks for the offer though guys. I will admit, at as low as $1.48 it is pretty hard to pass on, even with the -seemingly- lower quality network mix. If the hardware is at least as good as you say, maybe ill keep it in mind down the road, though I will wait for some reviews first.

As it stands, sorry not for me.

    My 2 cents.

    Good Luck!

    @TheLinuxBug

Refer to the reply above your post.
You managed to run these tests while the network was down.

    @fan

Issue has been resolved, network traffic has resumed.

Both IPs are inside our network therefore we aren't misleading.

    Few traceroute tests:

  • @stylexnetworks

In the ordering page there is an option to add CDN. The add-on seems free but there is a price tag attached to it. So how does this thing work. Would I get charged for if I use CDN service?

  • @biplab

Our CDN service has a flat rate of $0.06/GB, therefore you pay as you go. The system will track your usage and will generate an invoice at the end of every billing period.

Due to a high demand this promotion will be extended until August 10th.

  • Grab one :) Not bad experience at this moment.

I hope its stability (i.e. uptime, disk I/O speed etc.) over the next month will also be a good ;)

  • @stylexnetworks
Can you provide details regarding the cdn and dns. Are these hosted on your servers or another vendor? 57 pops where? Thanks
