DDoS Protection

Hello,

Just wanted to ask, if you are using a reverse proxy on a node with DDoS protection for a site, does this mean the site then gets DDoS protection too?

Many thanks,

Andrei

  • Yeah. That is the reason behind DDOS proxies tbh.

That depends on what layers and protocols the provider filters. Some providers only provide TCP, some provide TCP/UDP, some provide L7 filtering, etc ,etc.

For example, if you have a HTTP Flood going towards your node (with DDOS protection), and the provider (nor you) filters out the flood, then your backend would still be getting hit with the HTTP flood.

    Thanked by 1Andrei
