how to test your vpn speed?

i use vpn to connect to the internet,and wonder whats the vpn speed compared to use none,now i use speedtest.net to do my test, does the method right?

    I guess you could buy a gigabit server in the same DC as your VPN, connect to VPN from it and run speedtest cli to get max speed?

    Use iperf mate.
