Anyone using Spotflux VPN?

I found out about this service recently https://www.spotflux.com/ and I am curious if anyone has used this. Is it any good? Is it fast?

It looks like a VPN with integrated Ad Blocking

  • yes I used it before in 2013 but again back when I tried it it was free all around there wasn't any paid option.

  • Even though ad-blocking might be a nice feature... I wouldn't want such a service packet-inspect or censor my internet connectivity. Rather having a local ad-blocking plugin installed.

  • If you have android and root checkout Adaway

  • i believe they are using DPI for the anti virus and anti ad stuff

  • I used to use them, then I hosted my own VPN servers

  • No reason to use them if you're here on LET. Get a cheap NAT VM and you're good to go. Also, stripping away ads implies they do DPI so it's not really privacy conscious.

  • Another option is to make your own VPN and somehow block all these hosts

    Common ad servers.

    Like this?

     wget https://adaway.org/hosts.txt -O- >> /etc/hosts

    on the host node.

I can think of a very important one: reliability. The dirt cheap NAT plans over here don't offer any kind of guarantees, and history has shown they can get nullrouted for many time, nodes reinstalled without backups, etc...

Don't take me wrong, I would never pay to a VPN provider, but I can't trust LES for this either (and there isn't anything wrong with that, I love the project).

  • Only 2 locations offered, LoL, can get much more for better price.. or buy Two VPS and create for yourself

  • I haven't used it before..
