  • Hello IT, have you tried turning it off and on again?

Sure thing. Oracle filesystem or distributed replicated block device support can be as high as that...

  • Charging $500 for answering a couple questions for 30 minutes? I couldn't sleep at night if I was ripping people off like that.

Also, $10/hr is still above minimum wage in the US right?

Really, couldn't sleep? If I could make my weekly wage in 30 minutes I would be skipping with joy.

I would like to see that. I haven't seen that prices, not even in the industry.

  • I suppose that the price for professional IT services in western Europe is higher than other parts of the word, but this activity is heavily taxed. A senior product specialist is around 100 eur/hr here; a Windows or Linux expert 80 eur/hr; a project manager is usually around 600 eur/day. This can eventually come down to an absolute minimum of 50-60 eur/hr for multi-weeks projects. By the way this price level is about the same asked by trained professionals outside IT.

You could make much more than that by becoming a drug dealer or a con artist.

  • Try a freelance website. You may get a couple bites at $10/hr.

  • We charge $99 AUD an hour for support request charging in 15 min blocks min 30 minutes.

Although this is just for web design/conetent/programming and a few bits and bobs like mail setup etc.

It's not uncommon to see 100+ when talking to techs in the DC for managed servers...

I miss that sodding tram :( Leeds transport is boring, although they do have a bendy bus.

EDIT: Ah, this guy wants to set up a wordpress hosting service very similar to what Gatsby used to be. I'm incredibly busy at Uni at the moment so I can't really help at all, but if you're competent at reading this then you should be able to make some easy beer money.

  • I see in this thread their are some old lurkers who are experienced and professional in their fields, and I understand that @TarZZ92 (and many others) are offended by the $5 offer for the requirement OP wants, then he unintentionally remarked something that offended others.

So. This is how this thread got derailed.

There are many people in LET who are experienced, professional, and helpful, but some requests cannot be considered as a simple help, but rather a professional advice, and this doesn't come cheap.

OK, everybody. This is LET, I hope everybody start taking their chill pill and have fun.

    Cheers!
