Does anyone know if they are going to continue these VPS as a commerical line? I guess it would be some fun for the LEB market
Maybe you will be able to renew??

Thanks! I've got one but didn't touch it yet other than a few tests when I received it and it seemed fast.
anyone asked for 1 of this today, and received today?
I was late so I didn't get it today but I will try again tomorrow.
We most certainly will be able to renew, there's such a great deal of discussion about renewing on the mailing list (and the official answer is "Yes you will be able to renew; only starting from 5 days to the expiration date; only via ManagerV5"), so I expect everyone will get to renew at least once, so that all this wouldn't have been in vain
Indeed they seem to think people don't care where they get the VKS, and they're soooo wrong on that.
So when is the launch hour for today? yesterday it was at 10 GMT.
mine haven't been approved yet
just got mine
It isn't working for me - I'm getting "An error occurred when registering your information. Please try again." with no other explanation given
It took two days to get mine but I got two (one with French nic, one UK nic) both in Chicago as requested. Time to play.
Same, I think this is over.
Not over yet, just got mine (in Mauritius....). Short lived joy: went in to reinstall the OS and it's stuck at 30% for a few hours now, no response from support so far.
I don't think they are accepting new orders for it. You were probably on time and ordered it. They didn't announce on twitter when they open orders too...
New info!! Not for vKS, but for their entire project in general.
http://forum.ovh.co.uk/showthread.php?t=6191
Highlights:
• BHS will be the third DC, opening soon. Services will be gradually rolled out.
• Kimsufis will NOT be offered at the BHS DC, only at the France ones.
• In early 2013, they will start offering a new France location: Gravelines
• In 2014, they plan on bringing a DC online in the West of the USA. So in the end, they are expanding into the US, BHS appears to be just a stepping-stone, not the only North American OVH DC.
• All Alpha servers will be wiped and setup as trial servers for new customers. With SMS verification, you'll get 10 days to play around with one for free to test the network out.
So, it's some very interesting news! I still don't know when they'll end the vKS trials though...
I have received my free vKS. But I must be honest: I do not need it at all. I just ordered it out of greed. Now that I see that some would really like to have one and did not get the chance - Is there a way to transfer a KS service to another account? Like domains when using the same registrar? I would then give it to somebody who really has a need or usage for it!
The IP is in the 198.100.155.* range. No idea what the location is. I ordered Frankfurt/Germany, but I think the given location is more likely in the USA (CA).
I absolutely can not see them wanting to bother with transfers of free VKSes.
Yep looks like it is in the US.
@Amitz use it as file storage
I just got one located in Mauritius (chose San Jose) but ping to my US east VPSes is alright, I/O is great at 135MB/s with the usual test. @amitz I've got almost same range so I think they're handing out one location at a time until it runs out.
I dont know where's mine
Ok, I have tried running a desktop with one of the VKS, but have never suceeded of running anything past firefox. On my h1f VPS I can, and it does well.
@Maurice: "I just got one located in Mauritius"
I see what they did there
Also, really? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mauritius

can you post a traceroute?
Anyone got one in Frankfurt?
Mine is in Dallas, was hoping to get something in EU, though.

Has the Geo Location changed for your guys recently? On my vKS I had FR first now it is US. When I ping freevp.us the ping was about 8 - 10ms so it is in the US now :S.
Mine was showing "FR" in ManagerV5 initially, now it shows "CN".
This isn't correct anyways; only the "geoiplookup" tool properly returns the IP as being from HK.
they only accept uk

Isn't that CN means China? China ≠ Hongkong?
CN and HK are different geolocation as far as IPs are concerned.
