I'm now ready to start a experimental test phase. I'll giveaway 10 OpenVZ-VPS with 512MB Ram and 15GB SAS HDD. I would like to receive a little feedback from the people who have one (what can be better etc.)
The VPS will be running for a limited time.
Please send me a PM if you want to test one.

Here is the link for all who don't want to send me a PM :-)

The company is registered in Switzerland.

    Looks single-homed. http://bgp.he.net/AS201882

Geo IP services place the IPs in Germany, at least for now.

It's hard to comment on actual VPS quality with just testers (or no one) on the node.

    dd if=/dev/zero of=sb-io-test bs=1M count=1k conv=fdatasync
    8.05704 s, 133 MB/s

    dd if=/dev/zero of=sb-io-test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
    7.94675 s, 135 MB/s

    dd if=/dev/zero of=sb-io-test bs=1M count=1k oflag=dsync
    39.0292 s, 27.5 MB/s

    dd if=/dev/zero of=sb-io-test bs=64k count=16k oflag=dsync
    516.493 s, 2.1 MB/s

Intra-European bandwidth (downloading from OVH, Leaseweb, Germany) is around 25 - 35 MB/s (200 - 280 Mbps). Getting around 15 MB/s (120 Mbps) from Leaseweb and Softlayer in the USA.

  • Singlehomed HE and rented IPs from Germany.... yea, no.

    @MRX
The Datacenter I am isn't carrier neutral. So I can only peer with operator of the DC. They're having two fully redundant router setups with it's own uplinks.
The rented IP's are only for the testing phase. I will have my own IP's when the RIPE registration is finished (I'm currently waiting for the documents from DHL)

    Yes, I've seen it.

    2 Test VM's left: https://my.sinavps.ch/cart.php?a=add&pid=48

William, Edis in Switzerland is also not multihomed, even if you're using your own ASN there ;-) And you also rent tons of IPs: http://bgp.he.net/AS57169#_prefixes

  • We actually would not use our own ASN (and Nine.ch IS multihomed) but the carrier forces it - And yea, we rent a lot of IPs, though not for major locations yet (Austria, Switzerland etc.)

  • patrick7patrick7 Member, LIR

AS51395 is also multihomed, but it seems some of their upstreams haven't updated their filters yet.

Inbound traffic to the VPS is all Hurricane Electric but outbound contains a mix of TiNet, Hurricane Electric and public peering to major IX (SwissIX etc). This should be investigated.

It seems there is no IPv6 support on the VPS, even though there are IPv6 routes in the BGP.
CPU models are old (E5504) but I guess there should be a change soon.

Otherwise, the VPS is quite stable and provides excellent connection speeds outbound.

I am looking forward to the KVM offerings.

I am not sure what is wrong with your WHMCS but I cannot reply to the ticket I have opened.

I have tried logging in and out but no change.

    @deployvm
Hmm, never seen that error. Do you have cleared your cookies?

Same error. I have cleared cookies and tried on a different browser (FireFox).

  • deployvmdeployvm Member, Host Rep

OP diagnosed the issue (mod_security rules) and I was able to reply to the ticket successfully after removing content with 'wget'.

IPv6 is currently not operating correctly cause of some BGP issues (filter updates).

I've seen that not all uplink providers from SoftPLUS had updated their filter's (only HE has done it). I'll call them in the afternoon.

    IPv4 should now opperate correctly.

  • rauppe31rauppe31 Member, Host Rep

    RIPE registration done.

Definitive AS will be AS59741 and IP's are from 185.73.240.0/22
