VPS provider who forwards the DMCA complaint instead of interfering...

Hello,

I am hosting a website which has 18+ adult content.. But some people want their images to be removed. When they contact us, we remove it in an instant but most providers just tell me to remove the whole site! That aint fair.

I am looking for a good spec server 4GB ram atleast and a good network.. which can help me with above.

If you get any dmca, please forward it to us. We will remove the content asap! max 12 hours.

Please note, the site has 500+ concurrent users online.. Might go upto 1000.

Any suggestion, help or guide will do.

Please note, I dont host the images! I am just embedding the images.

Thanks and Regards

I would not mind this being hosted with us provided a client, such as yourself, contacted us first to let us know their special circumstances. Then we can put a note in on your account. Crissic was great for a small file host that I ran. They were happy to forward any DMCAs to me- luckily I don't think there were any but I was happy knowing that they wouldn't just suspend me. Might want to contact. @SkylarM - I highly recommend Crissic. :)

  • Do you have my ex photos? My old computer HDD crashed.

  • @Chuck, pm me your email id.. I will send them over ;-)

  • @sambling do you have skype?

  • For any host that accepts adult content I don't see why this would be an issue?

Unfortunately not. I probably should get it. Just GTalk for now but I am pretty quick at responding to tickets usually.

  • @sambling submitted a ticket.. Please respond with gtalk id.

  • Try and find a provider that can SWIP ip's with your abuse email.

Doesn't prevent the provider from getting the reports. MOST DMCA abuse reports either go to the owner of the IP space or the upstream that is announcing the blocks (if not under their own ASN). Some abuse reports will go to both the swip and the originating ISP abuse email, some just one or the other (mostly the originating ISP)

We wouldn't have an issue hosting this, however our typical behavior is to suspend first, so with special circumstances such as this you would want to drop us a ticket so we could add a note to your account to not do so :) -- we do this for a lot of customers. Only reason we suspend first is 99% of abuse is intentional in the low end segment ;).

Reading between the lines: you embed other companies copyrighted material in your website, am I right?

We always forward all of our abuses to our clients to be resolved within 12-24 hours. Though if serious enough, such as hosting child pornography, we suspend the offending user and forward the abuse. You shouldn't have any problems hosting with us.

i think we would all disconnect a customer and pass over details. in that case. however i doubt child protection services would send a dmca ^

  • We do the exactly the same - we forward the request to the user for resolution - we do not suspend only if customer doesn't reply after 48 hours.

We work with the customer as much as we can within the allotted time of 48 hours.

  • Considering some of the crappy DMCA's I've gotten I hope the providers are actually looking at them before knee jerk dropping services.

I love the ones from "SEO" agencies wanting links to sales at a company removed. Or the ones that point to domains that are hosted by another provider in another part of the world and totally not mine.

Of course the ones with vBulliten URL's are funny when I have never had a vBullitan board.

  • forward isn't the same as ignore

  • While we do forward the notices, I strongly doubt any host would enjoy dealing with lots of abuse emails for a single customer.

If you don't have an automated abuse rotation system, you'd have to read the mail, find its target IP, find the customer relates to that, open ticket, send another reply with the actual notice which would take 2-3 minutes per mail.

Even if you have automated systems, following up with such events is manual and time consuming.

The best course of action here would be getting an ASN and IP space (a /24 at least) and running BGP with your provider to get all of the abuse mails and deal with them.

I doubt every abuse mail sender will abide by the abuse mail address of a /32 SWIPed IP space.
