Host a 1gb file in European locations?
Hi,
Just got my hands on a few new nodes which I've been waiting to be delivered, I want to test the network performance of them against other European locations, so I would highly appreciate it if you guys could post 1Gb files for me to download. I'll only download them up to a maximum of 3 times.
Please specify port speed, I would prefer 1gbit because 100mbit is a little useless to test network performance on a 1Gbps node.
To generate a file, use dd if=/dev/zero of=mytestfile.out bs=1 count=0 seek=1G
Thanks!

Leaseweb (NL): http://mirror.leaseweb.net/speedtest/1000mb.bin
OVH (FR): http://proof.ovh.net/files/1Gio.dat
@DanielM used them for a while now, but they host on 100mbit.
Thanks @ElliotJ!
Leaseweb (NL) :

Woo, loving it.

Is this still on your connection?
eh?
Try this (it's a vps btw)

Main server is down for a reinstall, will test these remaining links later, if you guys put them up just for me I would appreciate you keeping them up for the night, thanks!

Unmetered 100Mbit, feel free to play
Its coming up as 95.4 O_O
no idea, i 'borrowed' it from Leaseweb a year ago or so i think
http://84.201.39.10/mytestfile.out on 1gbit
@William
Best to generate your own with dd.
Time to test these links!

@Amfy that must be hosted on some awful node, only got like 3mb/s max.
@William only got around 5mb/s from yours
Maybe just a bad uplink to Germany? Or just oversold VPS networks.
So far great performance though!
It's probably the uplink, i got 9 MB/s from my GetKVM VPS in Germany and 10-11 MB/s from my home connection (also Germany)

What result u get from my test link? (Hosted in Leeds.uk)
Not that great Daniel, like 7mb/s
Dam its on a Gigabit connection too
Well, I would like to see some more links for UK/USA so I can check if these low speeds to Germany and UK is because of routing or just the end-node having bad speeds.
Do you want to test to specific parts of the USA?
You could try the Softlayer Test IP's.
http://speedtest.wdc01.softlayer.com/downloads/test1000.zip
http://speedtest.sea01.softlayer.com/downloads/test1000.zip
Also try CDN's (do a traceroute to check its location) like CacheFly and EdgeCast, sometimes Softlayer are just.. slow.
Using CDN's is counter productive isn't it? Since they're going to give you a file literally in your DC I don't see the point in a speed test.
