SSL installation on Virtualmin

I followed this guide to add ssl on my server.. currently i subscribe to AlphaSSL..

the question is, about intermediate cert, I installed it on my server.. but when I visit my website with https, it says firefox not trust the site.

and I go to AlphaSSL website to get intermediate cert.. I installed it in CA Certificate tab.. but still firefox dont ttrust my website with https.. btw, what is the root cert?

Comments

  • if you have a look at the cert it shows you when it doesn't trust it take a look at what it says is missing... or maybe post the link so we can see?

  • I checked at SSLSHOPPER and it said I havent install any intermediate cert.. currently my server down.. I will post the domain when it up again.

  • k.. intermediate cert would do it... don't forget to reload/restart apache after its loaded

  • what is a root cert in that alphassl website? @WebtastixIS_Shane

  • the root cert is the first step in the trust chain in certs
basically you have a root cert > intermediate ca > your ssl cert
if any of those are missing the cert wont be valid, however in most cases the root cert will be trusted by browsers so theres no need to install it on your server (as it says on their site)

checking the current cert page and the CA certificate page in the virtualmin server admin ssl page would be the first step, make sure its detecting everything etc
