Aakash 2 tablet "world's cheapest tablet' from India what do you think?
Newly upgraded version of Aakash 2 has an 800Mhz processing speed, a three-hour battery life and operates on the latest Android software. Also SD card slot, a USB port and works only with WI-FI. Target for students and price as 2,263 rupees ($40; £26).
I think it is not bad for full funcion tablet for $40.
Comments
There's been $60 'droid tablets for a few months now, and they are/were terrible. I can't imagine a $40 tablet being much better.
Earlier version of Aakash is bad. Hope upgraded one should be better.
don't want to go into technical details (good/bad/...),
was just wondering IF they would also be available outside of India + shipping/toll/... cost
or a capacitive screen
Does it run angry birds?
@ Erkan I don't think it is going to be available outside of India.
It's cool for what it is, in India. I think the idea and the motivation behind it are incredible, but I'm not sure it's ever going to be something great for those who can afford better.
+1

I have used one, and it's pretty reasonable, especially now that they switched from VIA WM8650 to InfoTM iMAPx210. Even Angry Birds ran really well. My main complaint was the smallish screen and that the resolution of 800x480 is a bit too small.
try the ainol products. cheap but good. they were also one of the first to release a tablet with android 4.0.
No 10"?
I like tablet with andriod 4.0. I might try it out.
@MrLaddoodle it is similar to Amazon Kindle size.
Like jcaled said for 7" tablet go with ainol and ramos (dual a9 + dual Mali400 400mhz) 100$
for 10" id go with Cube 30gt or other rk3066 chip (dual a9 1.6ghz+ quad Mali400 233mhz) for 210 $
Not with capacitive touch screen. It makes a world of difference

Sexy Tablet.
Did you read 1st post?
The question was "is this one available".
I'm not seeing where exactly this tablet is said to have capacitive touch screen.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aakash_(tablet) lists that all the models of this tablet (yes turns out there's more than one) which cost Rs 4,000 and less have Resistive touch screen.
i think no 10" yet. but their product is very good for its price. i have one since christmas and its doin great!
