Help with connecting my domain to my Ramnode VPS
Hello all,
First of all, great site and info here! Reading up the posts helped to persuade me into signing up with Ramnode due to so many positive reviews.
Since I'm a VPS/Linux noobie (switching from HostGator shared hosting), I chose cPanel/WHM and cPanel DNS Hosting from Ramnode as well to ease up my set up and maintenance.
I installed everything to the best of my limited knowledge. Got the site transferred and it's now working fine at Ramnode under its IP:
http://168.235.64.157/index.php
However, connecting my domain name to it is turning out to be something I'm at dead end with.
I have pointed the domain (in the NameCheap site) away from HG to Ramnode 4 DNS servers (ns3.ramnode.com - ns6.ramnode.com), and input those in cPanel/WHM setting as well.
Domain DNS change propagated already, however when I type its name:
..all I get is the empty space
"Index of /
cgi-bin/
Apache/2.4.10 (Unix) OpenSSL/1.0.1e-fips mod_bwlimited/1.4 Server at squeezequeens.com Port 80"
So it's no longer going to my old HG host, but it's not displaying my Ramnode destination either! I don't get it. What else do I need to do to connect it together? I'd appreciate your help very much, it's been driving me bonkers whole day...

The place where I work at blocked your website under the "pornography" category.
Install webuzo?
have you logged in via the FTP account for your domain on the VPS and checked that the WWW location is the same as where you put the original website. I would imagine they will be 2 different locations created via Cpanel
How this bullshit response answer his question?
Webuzo could handle the things for free. But you know. Your answer is so better
And cPanel isn't control panel meant for task like his? He have very specific question and bullshit generic reponses like yours doesn't help anyone. Try to read at least what he's asking.
To me actually looks like ramnode destination. And web server is up and running. Maybe backups aren't uploaded properly? (to proper user account or something)
if you ping /dig the domain name is this your IP for Ramnode?
It seems like ramnode nameserver IP.
@SQ1 - It appears to me that none of the DNS servers that you have are actually pointed to the correct IP. From what I am seeing here, you will need to change the A record for the domain to the actual IP that is hosting it. Your being served pages from ns3.ramnode.com when you go to squeezequeens.com
Welcome at SqueezeQueens.com, your online fem & mixed wrestling haven!
Nice
RamNode should have a platform to manage DNS, usually this is in the provider's SolusVM. You should create a record, and the "A" should point to your VPS IP address.
This is such an awesome community.. thanks for pointing me into right direction, guys!
I've summarized where I'm currently at in the screen below:
imgur.com/1hmDWjC
Basically it looked like A records in cPanel DNSONLY panel were a mess so I changed it per your suggestions and also looking back at how it was set up at the old host.
As you can see in the screen and be checking links below,
(non-www) http://squeezequeens.com - now works
http://www.squeezequeens.com - still doesn't work
Did I make all the right changes in the cPanel DNSONLY panel, and do those changes take time to propagate similarly to domain registrar changes? Should I relax, go to bed, and the www URL version of the site will start working later?
It does for me.
It already works @SQ1
close browser, open up cmd prompt
"ipconfig /flushdns"
open up browser and it should work.
both http:// and www. redirect to the same IP address for me.
Awesome, guys. I feel so accomplished, my first ever VPS, installed and running in less than a day.. not bad for a 40yr old Linux newbie.
Couldn't do it without your help, thanks so much for your help! LET rocks
