Lowend Cloud for Development

I am looking for a lowend cloud to test a database I am helping develop. A lot of the features i am working on are geared to real world performance on ssd and sata. I am looking for lowend cloud hopefully in dallas that I can launch different machines of different sizes for short periods of time that will use a lot of IO. Once the test is done the vm will be destroyed and then dev changes will happen and the cycle continues. Please let me know if anyone has any suggestions.

  • Are you looking for HA or just hourly billing? If it's the latter, try http://incero.com/instant

Hourly billing. is more along the lines of what I am looking at I will check out there hourly server offers. Was hopping for more vm like resources just because that is what most people use.

    What about WABLE ?

They present everything you want (except hourly billing, but for the price.. ehh.) and they have quick access to most deployments in Dallas as one of their locations. Not really a cloud by any means, but they fit most of the features you labelled as necessary.

We can offer you something in our Chicago OpenNebula cluster, with full control over your VM instances and templating (and an EC2 compatible API we expose.) But we can't meat the Dallas location (we simply don't have anything there.)

  • I'd go with incero instant. Dedicated server with minute billing. If you hog up all the I/O resources on a shared environment, chances are you're going to get kicked or they'll put restrictions on the VM anyway.

  • Or depending on budget just got with Amazon or ask Rackspace for one of their developer packages. They used to have a deal for developers to give you access to their cloud platform at very reduced rate until you went live.

Our ByteShack resource pool should be exactly what you need. We dont advertise it here as they are over 7 usd. Please open sales ticket at http://drserver.net

  • Vultr provide hourly billing on multiple size vms (ssd in dallas) and sata (in new jersey only)
