Minecraft runs fine on it, just uses a lot of cpu while it renders more of the map if you go into deeper exploration.

Other things you could do:

• Backups or owncloud server
• Small webserver (nginx+php-fpm or lighttpd + php-cgi)
• Teamspeak and/or a Teamspeak music Bot, mumble and other voice servers
• Monitoring with nagios
• nginx reverse proxy (although standard ddos protection isn't good)
• plexmediaserver (only with direct stream option, any transcoding of media will use too much cpu)

I have installed Proxmox on it. It's an overkill for this processor, but I like the separation between VM's. In case something goes wrong, I can spin a new one. I can attach the backup FTP as a storage device on my Proxmox panel. As of now, I am running, a seedbox and a music streaming service(Subsonic). I would like to add a ghost blog and see how the processor can handle that.

Did you use the installer or debian > proxmox style?

No, I'm using 2012 as I couldn't get 2008 to work

Debian to Proxmox. There are couple of caveats though.
After installing new kernel, rebooting into the newer kernel from GRUB is not easy. One has to change the default boot order, and I messed it up, had to re-install again.
I could not figure out how to set up IPv6. The official guide is quite unsatisfactory.
Setting up NAT was easy. Installed NGINX as a reverse proxy.

I mounted the FTP backup space as a volume, however it's limited to 1000 files. Will use it for large media files or archives of stuff.

I think its not working in 2k8, however you should type: sudo -i
And then try to wget.

I'm trying to get Proxmox running as well. I can reach the point where the Proxmox site can be visited and the vmbr0 data has to be set (according to https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Install_Proxmox_VE_on_Debian_Wheezy).

When I set the IP, netmask and gateway and I reboot the server I reach any contact (no HTTPS, no ping, no SSH).

Any hints ?

You don't need to configure vmbr0, as it was already set up in DHCP mode. Your single IP should work, without any changes, whatsoever.
If you are going to set up NAT, then you will have to create a static interface like this.

Webuzo works at ubuntu and centos.

But none of control panel works at centos 7.
