  • I never understood why people would buy a sever if they have no use for it?

    Because they can!

    because its cheap and just want to try it out for a month and suddenly realize its not good enough for them?

    I guess with these chips sure, but I still wouldn't choose a box unless I had a purpose in mind for it; maybe I'm special.

    Happened to me as well but was able to cancel.

    2 Eur a month for even a crappy dedi is really worth it. I pay the same in power for my box at home and Tor lists it as unstable due to the dynamic IP also power is not very reliable and have to use an UPS.
    Sure, I can use my BlueVM 1 GB KVM for 20 $ a year, but that does not have unlimited traffic and IPv6 among other things.

    For Debian you can follow Spirit's guide.

    Should be a one-shot script to install the most sensible DHCPv6 client (and nuke the non-sensible one): https://version6.ru/en/online.net-wide-dhcpv6

  • thnx @kcaj and @rm_ and how to do with centos 7?

  • If anyone wants to sell me one of this servers, please, pm me.

    I just confirmed that Email Account change is indeed possible just to change First Name & Last Name you've to contact support. By hand overing the whole account, it can be done.

    Protip with IPv6 addresses in Debian 7: By default, /etc/modprobe.d/local.conf disables your ipv6 so you'll need to comment that line out.

    That was 30 minutes in the trash for me but hopefully you won't have to go through the same issue.

  • Couldn't get Dibbler to work on Debian 7 so I used this guide instead http://forum.online.net/index.php?/topic/4729-howto-ipv6-using-dhclient-for-ubuntu/?hl=ipv6 (it says for Ubuntu but worked fine for Debian) - my test site with IPV6 is http://onefor.me.uk/

  • ittiger said: Couldn't get Dibbler to work on Debian 7

    I had trouble with Dibbler as well. I used https://version6.ru/en/online.net-wide-dhcpv6 from rm_'s post.

    you can use ISC-DHCPC/Dhclient as well.

    dhcpc6.conf

    interface "eth0" {
    send dhcp6.client-id MYDUID;
    request;
    }

    Seemed to work on one of my other boxes.

  • i followed @rm_ link but seems not to work;

    root@onlne:~# ping6 ipv6.google.com
    PING ipv6.google.com(ee-in-x8a.1e100.net) 56 data bytes
    From fe80::8a43:e1ff:fe7c:7bff icmp_seq=1 Destination unreachable: Beyond scope of source address
    From fe80::8a43:e1ff:fe7c:7bff icmp_seq=2 Destination unreachable: Beyond scope of source address
    From fe80::8a43:e1ff:fe7c:7bff icmp_seq=3 Destination unreachable: Beyond scope of source address
    From fe80::8a43:e1ff:fe7c:7bff icmp_seq=4 Destination unreachable: Beyond scope of source address

  • It seems like they don't restock the 1.99 one

    No they just make them available when there is a bulk of them to order.

    Link I provided above is much the same as suggested by @dragon2611 and it worked for me.

  • editing dhcpc6.conf only will work? or more steps to do?

    also edit /etc/network/interfaces and add:

    iface eth0 inet6 static
    address IPv6-BLOCK-ADDR-FROM-ONLINE::1
    netmask 48
    accept_ra 1
    pre-up /sbin/dhclient -1 -v -pf /run/dhclient6.eth0.pid -lf /var/lib/dhcp/dhclient6.eth0.leases -cf /etc/dhcp/dhclient6.conf -6 -P eth0

    This will add one static address (put one address where it says IPv6-BLOCK-ADDR-FROM-ONLINE::1)

    Just restarting networking afterward seemed to screw things up (lost connectivity) so I rebooted after making changes.

  • pay attention when installing windows! I just got billed 30€ for installing it and noticing that the 1,99€ box is too slow -.-

    You dont get billed instant, you can use it for free for some days until you get billed.

    Yeah it looks like I had it running over night and started to get billed... dam I'm hating myself right now. 30€ for nothing...

    I already knew it. Cuz windows license is not free. Also is it one time fee or recurring ?

  • Recurring of course.
