  • Minimum wage in Canada is around $11 per hour, so $10 U.S.D. so even the base minimum of $15 isn't THAT bad. It's more then the minimum. That being said, I don't know if it's competitive with what a L3 tech would be paid by other companies in Canada (or the U.S.) and isn't that really the issue?

...which is the whole point. $30/hour would be fantastic in rural Bolivia. It's starvation wages in downtown Tokyo.

If they were hiring in Manila or Athens, they wouldn't be offering $15/hour...

WTF? Minimum wage is what you pay someone who pumps gas or works at McDonald's. L3 (i.e., very senior) techs are not paid anywhere near this.

    Are you serious?

DrJinglesMD said: You are paying $35/hour (maximum) for a 1099 position? You expect some poor sap to not only feed himself, but provide healthcare AND 40% of his income to Uncle Sam? Lets do the math, $35/hour = annual salary of $72,800 Uncle Sam automatically takes $29,120 (40%). If you live in a state where State Income Tax is a thing, take some more money off. So we're looking at a job that just clears $40k/year. It includes no heathcare, no time off, no benefits what so ever. I made more working at Walmart.

All very true, though I'm guessing

    (1) Jon/Yaroslav's definition of "L3" means "knows how to google"

    (2) GVH has historically hired high school kids

    (3) I'm guessing anyone he hires is living with mom & dad and this money will be spent on Steam and Doritos

    (4) So it's not really someone trying to support himself on a crappy 1099 rate

Oh, and @GVH_Jon (or whatever your name really is), this is not a legal use of 1099 contractors, by the way. Fails the checklist in many ways.

Hey, the IRS allows anonymous tipsters to earn 10% of collected taxes from tax cheats...hmmm...

That's one way to get rid of Jon for good, or at least 10-20 years.

Ya I'm serious. I'm not in the industry. I do this as a hobby. How should I know what you guys get paid?!? I don't even know what the job description for what GVH consider's a L3 tech.

So, what is the average hour payment for a L3 tech in US and in Canada? Does any provider here or a L3 technician can inform us what is his hourly budget? From what I have read, 75000$ yearly salary (incl. taxes) is not so much in US but not low either...

Googling it, I found those prices:

    L3 Technical Support Representative 55K$/Y

    Systems Administrator (2014 yearly salary) $62,250 - $96,500

Could go both ways, wonder how many on here are legal when it comes to taxes.
