Erm... What ? They should know that already...
Besides, this isnt for support or promoting only, also I do not agree that posting here is only drama, but to each his own.

Not sure about that. I'm on node kvm03.

I'm sorry, can't deal with him.-

Moreover, I've experienced kernel panics and seen garbled text on the tty (memory corruption?). That's on a fresh install...

Sorry, I may have missed it in your earlier posts, but what OS is this? How did you partition and format the drive space? Your dd tests look as if you used ext3, ext4 will give you much better results.

I'd say he uses xfs (at least the module is loaded and used).

Along with joydev, I fail to see how this can be anything but a walk in the park.

Using xfs on KVM is quite a bad idea.

    The XFS FAQ says:

The biggest problem is that those products seem to also virtualize disk writes in a way that even barriers don't work any more, which means even a fsync is not reliable. Tests confirm that unplugging the power from such a system even with RAID controller with battery backed cache and hard disk cache turned off (which is safe on a normal host) you can destroy a database within the virtual machine (client, domU whatever you call it).

  • My best experiences:

    buyvm +1
    kazila
    hostigation

    and worst experiences:

    virpus
    ubservers
    nqhost
    citynethost
    volumedrive

I'll start off with the worst and post my bests later:
    1) uptimevps - didnt get vps, had to fight to get money back
    2) nordicvps - frequent downtimes, severe service throttling
    3) hostrail Windows VPS - was crap but provided a lot of laughs (Linux vps were okay)
    4) 123Systems - horrible performance - lots of outages/reboots
    5) bluevm - terrible IO performance making vps unusable for even basic tasks- not even worth the $2 for the 'anniversary special'

    Dishonorable mentions would be
    EDIS Sweden location for instability
BuyVM 128MB KVM for its extreme variability in its performance.

@JoeMerit bluevm io poor but not that bad. its just the vps goes down and does not start. happens frequently now.

  • @jcaleb their California node was under DDoS for the last couple of days. My VPS on their California node goes down every now and then because of it but the Illinois node has been up for a long time so idk. BlueVM has been doing pretty well for me

We do have new hardware being setup right now that should fix any IO issues as well as automated detection of IO abuse.

Its nice you aren't trying to deny it. Good luck on your new hardware & monitoring.

Yes, Allsimple deserves a lot more buzz than they get around here :) I've only used them for a little over 2 months but maybe I'll post a review.

  • jcalebjcaleb Member

Because allsimple is not active here. But my uptime is great. Support is great too.

Yes, the old node still has problems.
If you want we can move you to the new ones, which will result in an IP change however.

Yes, this is why you got a dishonorable mention rather than being on my actual worst experience list :) EDIS is great at letting people move to new locations if there is a problem.
