OpenVPN Access - Is SSL enabled by default?

I'm looking into using openvpn access on a server in order to protect my data while I'm connected to public wifi that isn't encrypted. Does openvpn access encrypt data by default?

Yes. By default it uses Blowfish symmetric keys after the primary handshake.
