30 mins and still available. Surprising.

EDIT: Never mind. Misread the time. Its been 3 minutes. Anyway, I didn't get one as I have no use for it, but the offer is good. :)

  • @gsrdgrdghd @liam @Taylor yes sorry about that. Im useless with the keyboard especially after long week

  • LAKidLAKid Member

    LET3 does not work

  • @LAKid should do, we have already had a couple of uses with no problems

  • @liam we have our own racks in BlueSquare Maidenhead which is now a Pulsant site. We use C4L for connectivity - fully redundant and we have now even installed our own dedicated UPS for the full belt and braces. 500KG worth of APC batteries...

Thank you very much for the vps.

    Interesting processors you're using there...

we have Gb uplinks each VM is limited to 100Mb do I would expect better speeds than you are seeing on these tests

Our clustered storage array is terrible an sequential write tests but as many applications don't require this type of IO profile we prefer the availability it provides.

CPU's are AMD proc's across the clusters to allow hot migration functionality

Just re run the tests but Im not expecting to much on a free vps :P

There is nothing short term we can do with the disk IO tests. We do hope to tool out SSD caching in the near future but this will be a month or two away.

In terms of the network performance I will raise this with our network provider C4L as our links have very low utilisation so I wouldnt expect us to be the bottleneck

  • You still at iomart Michael?

  • @DanielM we used to have a presence at RapidSwitch who I believe we're brought out by Iomart. That was a few years ago though.

We now have our own racks in BlueSquare Maidenhead who are now a Pulsant site. We use C4L for our network connectivity

Seems pretty good, here's some test results.

My concern is the disk speed, everything else seems pretty nice.

  • Thank you @JTR, yes the sequential disk speed needs improving. As we use a clustered system there is a write penalty.

We have a plan to improve this with SSD.

What I would say though is the speed is consistent and in fairness sequential write work loads are not typical of most virtual machines

If you need faster sequential writes then it maybe better to use a host with local non clustered storage (still make sure they at least have raid protection though)

  • Sorry all slots are now taken

  • Please cancel my order (invoice 3380 and 3382). I thought i was in time for this 3 months review( There was no indication of when it was over when i signed up)
