Will transfer OVH LowLatency unmetered 100 Mbit VPS in Hong Kong

edited July 2014 in Offers

This is a pretty unique VPS, 100 Mbit unmetered in Hong Kong. They don't list it on the website anymore but it's the 9.99 EUR plan:

It's paid through 26 January 2015, so more than 6 months remaining. Even though the product is discontinued for new orders, it looks like it should be possible to renew it after that date.

TUN/TAP enabled. rDNS can be changed via panel for IPv4, but not for IPv6.

Test IPs:
103.5.12.1
2402:1f00:2001:100::9

Asking for 60 EUR in Bitcoin/Litecoin/Dogecoin at exchange rate agreed on payment.

Looks like I can transfer it to another OVH (not KS or SYS) account, the OVH support was shockingly helpful and provided me with a full walk-through in screenshots on how to do that. However whether it'll actually work, remains to be seen. Full refund if it the transfer fails, of course.

    Answered, and an update to everyone, even though the page lists DDoS protection as included in all locations, I doubt they actually have the filtering Tilera/Arbor boxes deployed in HK; so while the IP can be added to permanent mitigation via the API, the traceroute does not change to indicate that it's being performed.

    It doesn't appear that its got mitigation. At-least from a little empirical test (didn't want to cause account issues).

    I have installed a LookingGlass script there, PM me if you're interested to try. Also let me know if you want some URLs (test files) tested for download speed to this VPS.

    Yeah mainland China is "difficult", other Asian countries are easier to get good links to. It's got 33ms ping to Singapore, 51ms to Japan, 81ms to Australia, so for those countries speeds should be alright. Anyways as mentioned I can test any URLs or IPs you want for ping or download speed, to ensure it's suitable (or not) for you.
