What do you think about these VPS nodes
Hello,
I got 2 quotes for VPS nodes today. Now I wanted to know what you think about them.
The first node is:
-Intel Xeon E3-1230 V1 (quad core)
-32 GB REG ECC DDR3 RAM
-Software RAID1
-2x1TB Enterprise SATA II HDDs
-1 Gbps Uplink
The second node is:
-Intel Xeon E3-1270 v3 (quad core)
-32 GB REG ECC DDR3 RAM
-Hardware RAID10
-4x500 GB Enterprise SATA II HDDs
-1 Gbps Uplink
Let me know what you think about them and if you have any suggestions or ideas.
Regards,
Alec

Oi, love, come an'ave a look at deese fuckin' nodes, yaw gonna luv 'em.
2nd node should have some more IOPs for users, less IO wait.
That isnt saying box 1 is useless but you may struggle with IO wait depending how many users you are stuffing on them.
GVH does the same,
Don't worry, I won't do what GVH is doing.
I love the cockney accent I have in my head whenever I read your posts.
It's probably accurate, aside from I'll insert a swear word roughly every two to three words.
As my past experience tell me: technology allows you to use at least sas drives now if you can not afford ssd yet. Forget about sata, it's a turtle speed drive, especially in soft raid.
Here is a good (not great vps node) - SuperMicro, 2 x Xeon E5-2640 (12 cores + 12 HT); 32Gb RAM, 6x600Gb SAS (15k rpm) HHD in RAID10, LSI MegaRAID SAS 9260-8i with BBU, 1GBit network. It can handle 150+ openvz vps easy if there are no abusers.
I don't understand what feedback you are asking for? If it's not clear to you that the 2nd system is much better for VPS hosting, you have bigger problems to address than hardware.
