Well i must say softlayer is expanding real fast.I have not any other datacenter with that much locations.They have locations in Asia,EU,USA.

Business development & marketing is the key. I've dealt with even better local provider.
I'm not sure why, but management IT guy circle that I work with seems to be fond of Softlayer. Maybe because of "nobody ever got fired for buying IBM" sentiment
Now that IBM owns it, $500 probably just about covers a 512MB VM.

Why are they so expensive? That's like 10x the price OVH or Hetzner would charge.
And then they add an operational fee of 6% in London to cover the costs. Who is doing their books, lol.
It's not just the server with an internet connection they provide. It's everything else, like support, redundant network connections on each ever, etc. They cater to businesses, not really someone looking for a cheap server to play with.
