Do you do Lifelogging?

In modern days you can record every bit of information every time. I'd be interested in what you log and how you are then visualizing/using it?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lifelog

Examples:

  • GPS Tracks when you travel
  • Sport watches to track your heart rate, calorie burn, sleep, sugar, fat rate, ...
  • Google/Apple's function to track you time at work/home

Please do not discuss here, that this is all useless. I know it is just as useless as buying 10 LEBs you then don't use ;)

Fuck GPS tracking, my phone battery is already drained enough throughout a day.

I've had a Jawbone Up24 for a few days, and so far I'm liking it! Really like that I can have it vibrate at me when I've been sat down for a bit too long, to remind me to get up and move about.

Why spend money on this bulls**t.
if you are in the US you can ask NSA to send you the logs for free!

  • There's no real cheap rip off ways to do this yet are there? I am interested in stuff like @liamwithers post but I am not interested in spending really any money on it.

    No, i don't think so.

  • I use a program called "Manictime" to track everything I do at the computer, I've used it for about 2 years now and its really interesting to see.

What is the % of time filed under "adult" content?

  • VPNshVPNsh Member, Host Rep

@AThomasHowe they are indeed expensive, however I think such devices will drop in price over the next year or so. I only bought it as I had £70 worth of Amazon vouchers and only had to spend £50 or so myself, which made it worth while. It's good, but not £120 good.

Yea about £50 is my limit too. With iOS8's Health app I think it'll only help the uptake.

Phew, that requires you to really do it. I wouldn't be able to do this more than a week.

I use Argus with the 5S for tracking health trends. I think you can solve problems on paper all day and miss the ones in the mirror. Putting myself on paper helps me to recognize where I need to improve.

  • NSA does that shit for you already, so don't bother. LOL

At this point I think it's better to be in their mass of data that they'll spend the rest of my lifetime trying to parse than to be the one that isn't in the list. I only wish I could add data to it to aid in overwhelming their systems to the point that they're useless. They want data? Let's all overload it with 1080p videos of us getting friendly with the toilet.

Had a thought the other day. Do they literally capture all data flowing across the internet or will they exclude traffic from YouTube, Spotify etc which is useless?

Just tell me which service they capture and that's where I'll stream my live toilet cam in 4k.

  • Just put the word "jihad" in your RTMP stream name. They'll keep it probably.

They use supercomputers to scan for important words, pictures. Doesn't matter if you use 4k, 1080p.

The NSA is not God. I think the effect of scaring the populous is far more impressive than what they actually are capable of. :P

Imagine this for animals, you get a MMS with a photo when your cat vent to toilet so then you know you need to clean it up.

I've been using Endomondo for years. I simply use my phones GPS whenever I'm out for a run. I really ought to get myself one of the Polar monitors but always manage to convince myself not to at the last minute.
