We're in the process of rebuilding our billing system, we're going start from a fresh server rather than restoring from backups. SolusVM we are still waiting on Digital Ocean to mount a recovery ISO so we can investigate the cause of that failure and also take a full backup. Once that has been done then we'll set about rebuilding that too.

I really appreciate the lengths the LET community has gone to this evening to protect me and arrange for the police to come to my house. I felt out of control at the time and overwhelmed at the prospect of having our billing and SolusVM systems compromised. The visit helped me put things into perspective and realise where I need to focus my attentions.

I might be insisting on that point just like some others have in this thread, but it still is some sort of a mystery to me. GVH have proven that they are compulsive liars who deceive clients to keep their "business" running despite going through lots of shit.

No, they haven't deadpooled yet. Is deadpooling the only valid reason for banning a provider on LEB/LET? Please remember that you allow providers to post offers on LET, and you promote some through LEB. You are, to a minimum extent, liable for doing so; I believe that, legally speaking, you would be actively promoting fraudulous activities/operations if you consciously knew about a scammy provider's practices and were still giving them opportunities to sell their services.

Now, If you're not doing anything about providers who have shown they cannot properly handle their userbase, through signs such as privacy leaks, terrible/scammy support, and dump-selling, then I frankly don't know what to think.

I do believe that you are not feeling responsible enough for letting GVH run their bullshit-circus for years now. How come you haven't taken appropriate action so far? PMing GVH privately does not work and you know it - they haven't listened to you and they've continued throwing their wall of lies at the community and their paying customers.

From what GVH has said and done, there most likely is a link between them and CC. It's even come to a point where it'd be foolish to deny it. As an administrator of LET (along with jbiloh and sysadmin) you are a part of CC. Are you letting GVH run wild because you don't want to tarnish CC's reputation?

I'm not accusing you of anything, so please don't take this as an offense - this is an honest question. I think the community would be thankful if you did answer, so as to give us some insight from your side.

TL;DR

GVH basically got exposed for lying about people and their staff member's aliases and a whole load of worms in a can. Then some prick DDoSed them and hacked their WHMCS and SolusVM, they are currently restoring their data as we speak. Oh and Jon threatened suicude and several concerned LET members rightfully notified the police and had them visit him to make sure everything was safe.

The main issue now is that hopefully GVH has its act together and nobody will be planning anything extreme or reckless, only that they will get a fair punishment for the lies and trouble they've been causing from this thread and their choices of action.

I was concerned as the post didn't show "Edited", and the quote didn't include the correct styling that the original post listed. Not trying to start any tinfoil hatted conspiracy, just pointing out the two related things.

He doesn't deserve having his systems compromised, but he certainly doesn't deserve another chance either. He was doing a great job at ruining his business himself in this very thread with his consistent lies.

Like I have said a lot of times before: we don't ban people for lying. These things lead to undesirable situations and I'd have to ban a lot of people upfront who I know are or were lying.

Rather, these lies are allowed to be exposed and discussed in here. It's what has happened at LET in the past so many times; it's what will happen at LET in the future. Our community is very sharp and good at uncovering these things (give or take a few bad apples) and this will actually help customers in the end while they're searching for a host.

It does that whether we edit it or the user. I do have some sort of a changelog but not everything seems to go in there.

There is two sides to every story. Not everything is as black and white as it is often portrayed. That doesn't mean I'm making excuses for anyone or anything; just saying that we should remember that.

@mpkossen not everyone do their hw before purchasing, and it's not really customer's fault for not doing hw for purchasing from bad host. Only the customers who suffer, not the host. It's sad to see bad hosts run around freely without any problem.

Why was this thread set to sink earlier today? Why are so many gvh threads set to sink or closed outright ? You say this is a place to inquire yet we are censored so often.

Just for the record: I know this thread was set to sink shortly after it was initially posted. I unsunk it right after. I don't know what happened after that. I asked all my staff last night not to sink it.
