OpenVPN on OpenVZ - Can't connect to the IPv6 Internet

NyrNyr Community Contributor, Veteran

So I posted about tis on the OpenVPN forum, but reposting here since I hope this is something related to OpenVZ and maybe the particular setup used at my ISP.

So my VPN setup is working great for IPv4, but I'm having problems getting clients connected to the IPv6 Internet on one specific server.

Basicallly, I am trying to set up OpenVPN on an OpenVZ container, using a tunnel broker from HE.net. I did write about my setup step by step, it's a bit hacky but nothing weird:
http://wiki.nyr.bz/ipv6_tunnel_broker_openvpn_openvz#the_solution

The situation is:

  • IPv4 connectivity to the Internet working over the VPN
  • IPv6 connectivity working on the server
  • IPv6 addresses from the tunnel broker and routes are pushed and configured on the client correctly - http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=WVnb6iiF
  • IPV6 connectivity is working between the client and server both ways. IPv6 connectivity to the Internet isn't.

I did exactly the same setup on a different OpenVZ container from a different ISP and it works. I don't really know what's wrong but I can't seem to figure how to get IPv6 working over the tunnel.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I was stupid enough to not set forwarding for IPv6 correctly. Please mods close this topic, I feel embarrassed.

Are you letting protocol 41 through your firewall?
