Personally I don't see a difference in how you end that word, it's still the same word and I wouldn't use it, but I can appreciate it was a joke with no intended malice.

Hey hey Baklawa isn't just Turkish. It's throughout the ex Ottoman empire. You need to taste some home made wara' 3nab, takes like a whole bloody day to make.. But mmm..
