OVH DDOS Protection Question

Hi.

I was wondering if OVH was protected from Layer7 attacks.

Layer7 attacks send requests that look like legitimate requests, which results in over loading the CPU of the server.

Common examples are XMLRPC

We all know OVH protects from Layer4 attacks such as UDP

The reason why I am asking this is because I asked some providers that use OVH Servers and some said that they do protect from Layer7 and some said that they don't.

  • According to OVH, they currently only provide Layer3/4. Layer7 is in the future.

No layer 7 protection. It is on OVHs roadmap; however is not implemented yet.

Given the hoops you have to jump through to effectively block some layer 7 attacks without impacting legitimate traffic, I can't see OVH ever offering an effective layer 7 solution.
