Anyone use kimsufi vps before? Do they have normal kernel for the vps?

I assume you mean OVH VPS. Interestingly, I can't quickly locate their virtualization type. Google really doesn't help much because everyone and their mother is posting somewhere about virtualization on their dedicated systems. So I guess I'm adding my curiosity to the mix as well.

I have used their ESXi hosts for test and development in the past. They had a lot of options for templates with the physical machines.

I found their control panel to be very confusing but OK once you got your head around it

They use OpenVZ according to the forums http://forum.kimsufi.com/showthread.php?t=9783 (Google Translate helped)

I didn't even know they offered vps under the kimsufi brand.

I confirm that they use OpenVZ, @Daniel found it right. Don't known if the kernel is standard or the OVH usual customized one (grsecurity).

As far as I know (from OVH mailing-list), hosts computers :

    • 8 cores x 2.1Ghz
    • 24 GB Ram
    • Host system on local disks
    • VMs on NAS (14T zfs cluster)
  • Kimsufi vks have the 2.6.32-042stab049.6 kernel.

    Here is a quick bench..

    CPU model : AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 6172
    Number of cores : 1
    CPU frequency : 2100.025 MHz
Total amount of ram : 1024 MB
Total amount of swap : 128 MB
    System uptime : 10 days, 3:14,
    Download speed : (13.5MB/s)
    I/O speed : 21.4MB/s
