Any code editor(mac) with built in FTP?

srvrprosrvrpro Member

Just wondering if there are any code editors with ftp feature for mac? I've tried coda's trial and about to buy it.

Was just wondering if I had alternatives before I loosen $75 from my pocket for an editor.

    Sublime Text?

It does have a FTP plugin but I don't like it. There is no fancy gui to configure ftp servers.

  • Also PHP Storm, Web Storm, Dreamweaver (lol)

I think it has a FTP plugin, trying to get it to work.

Something like notepad++ in windows, any specialised code editor..

    Yes. Tools > Deployment.

  • Are you pressed for FTP? If you don't need it, I personally use BTSync to sync published code changes to my development server.

I was using FTP but Visual Studio has horrible support - so I separated the issues. I publish to a directory and BTsync pushes the directories to the server.

Yummy FTP Watcher (for mac, but OP has a mac) is an external tool to watch for differences on a remote FTP server or on your local machine and automagically syncs the changes for you if you're stuck on shared hosting or something. Then you can use any editor you want.

  • Checked out many, I think I'll just buy coda guys due to its ease of use.

  • My recommended editor with built in FTP is Codelobster

Topic is about 7 years old I hope TS have found an alternative..

Nova (https://nova.app) is the successor of Coda..

  • PHPStorm has this and VScode. PHPstorm version is very bad. Single threaded FTP upload/downloads. VScode automatic sync via SSH makes wonders!

Surprised nobody has suggested BBEdit. The most native and mac-alike editor, with built-in FTP browsing. Going strong for decades.

    This is Thread Necromancy.

If you Google: "clob" codelobster, you can see the username is used for codelobster linkbuilding.
