Record from a live video stream?
Hey guys,
So I've recently bought a wireless surveillance camera to place on the outside of my house, and I've got everything working nicely so that it can be accessed remotely via a URL. However, this just shows the live stream, and I'm wanting to have this stream recorded to one of my servers.
Could anybody suggest a method that I could implement that would allow me to pull the video from the stream and save it into a file. Preferably something that allows me to save into one hour chunks or similar would be ideal.
Any suggestions at all would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Liam

Never done it but have read before about motion http://www.lavrsen.dk/foswiki/bin/view/Motion/WebHome wanted to make simple motion detector for my kids when i'm not around but haven't had time to do it yet.
@liamwithers: don't bother reinventing the wheel. Setup/use ZoneMinder and enjoy.
It may be a bit of overkill, but IMHO it is the ultimate solution for an open source surveillance DVR.
@liamwithers May I ask what is the brand of the camera? what protocol does it support? How is it streaming? Java, flash?
i think it have ftp function u can upload direct to your vps server
