VMWare I/o errors

Hi guys,
My dedicated server is acting really slow and unstable, especially when loading websites (that's very slow!) and streaming. Sometimes, the server drops and loses all connections. After a few seconds it's back. A lot of buffering.
Then I noticed these notices about my hard disk:
Device
t10.ATA_____WDC_WD5000BEKT2D75KA9T0___

performance has deteriorated. I/O latency
increased from average value of 3380
microseconds to 116316 microseconds.

Does that mean the hard disk of my dedicated server is at risk?

I had my server investigated by @Swiftway. Figured it was a problem with the CPU cooling.
