  • AFAIK: No referrals are allowed without providing a direct link to the service without it.

For those who are wondering, I recognize this to be Koding.

They're being overrun with 1000 signups/hr, but they're trying to fix it.

what is the catch? is it only free for a limited amount of time?

  • to be noted that the vms will turn off in 1 hour you leave the site. there is this always on option , but not for free beers..

All Koding VMs are optimized for software development, and they're automatically turned off one hour after you leave the site.

If you want your VM to stay online, you can mark it as "Always on", and we will never turn it off.

This is great for lightweight sites, your personal blog perhaps, or your client presentations. We are not attempting to be a production host, so if you are looking for 24x7x365 availability we might suggest you host your application/site with a specialist hosting company.

Sounds intersting. found the following information in their website:

Approximately 60 minutes after you log out, your Free VMs will shut down.
Why? Koding‘s development focus is not centered around hosting your blog/site.

See: free. Dont compare it to a paid plan.

It's for develop use, but not sable enough..
Before It give 4g, but now shrink remain 3g...

  • tbh, the true reason is that there's too much of abuse when you keep it on 24/7(spam, scam, phishing, mining)

  • With Koding VMs, you don't get a dedicated public IPv4. I tried it before, and it's basically impossible to host any kind of service on any port from your VM. So yes, it is only suitable for development use.

  • Yeah, anybody use my link for signup :-)

  • I've just signed up via your link :) - cheers.

  • Couldn't you just stay connected forever using the VM? If that makes sense.

    I did though :( ?

edit: oh, it didn't send verification mail, but now I clicked "Verify now"

edit2: and still no mail, I'll verify when I get the mail, then you get your bonus I guess.

Didn't saw your name at the referral list though. We'll see what will happen when you verify your mail :)

It showed your name though. But I just closed the modal. But it indeed did use the referral, probably just needs the verification mail, which I don't seem to get.

I still didn't got it though. But never mind that :)

  • If anybody wants to spread the love, here's mine: https://koding.com/R/mult

  • Just dandy, verification does not work. I can click the verification link all day and ask new ones, but no.
