    ovh

  • @kbar, yes servers are located in OVH (FR) or in Core BackBone(DE)

  • Are they your own servers or are they leased from the datacenter?

    Ping statistics for 130.185.108.35:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

    lol nulled ?

  • @Damian, they are leased.
    @Spirit: Error in the ip. should be .34
    @kbar: nulled??

    ah error in ip, thought you were nulled.

    Why are you running SSD nodes in Raid 1? :S

  • @Jacob, they are running on raid 0;

    dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 4.82012 seconds, 223 MB/s
    (This is on one test vps)

  • Native IPv6 anywhere?

  • JacobJacob Member

    @StableVDS Ahhah! Kiss good bye to redundancy.. SSD Drives are also prone to failure.

  • @Jacob, we run backups every 4 hours. even if they crash we would be able to recover data.

  • @Spirit, Ipv6 coming soon; We will be launching our Xen packages in DE soon. They will have full support for ipv6

    @StableVDS Are these local backups?, The whole point of RAID Levels with redundancy is to reduce downtime and data loss, If both your SSDs suddenly stop at the same time, Which is likely to happen then if it was a SATA drive then you would have to wait a couple hours for OVH to replace the faulty hardware.

    The SSDs might not even be hotswappable, I'm not trying to trash your thread but looking at what is stated from a realistic point of view.

    @Jacob, backups are stored offserver. What we would like to achieve with the RAID0 is fast read/write speeds. SSDs are indeed not proven to replace SATA drives in redundancy and failure rates.
    In case of failure we have SLA (at both DC's) and we can recover within 12 hours.
    (If everything goes according to plan)

  • @Jacob it's OK as long as the customer is notified in advance that RAID0 of SSDs is used and can make an informed decision. For some uses redundancy / high uptime is not needed.

    Agree. As soon as the client is informed that raid0 is used I think it's ok :)
