Why does anyone have points?

I don't know. It's before my time. I believe we once had a plugin that allowed people to earn points for some actions (or community reactions). It's a different system than likes.

LowEndTalk was originally built around a OSQA StackOverflow-type system. That had a karma system but the karma was lost when the site transitioned to Vanilla. And that happened 15 years ago.

There was a Vanilla voting plugin aptly called Voting which did award points, though it's not installed now and I'm not sure it was ever used here.

99.86% of users do not have points. 216 people have positive points, and 48 have negative points. How this came to be, I don't know. I do know who has the most points and I do know how that happened.

  • What surprises me is, who decided to go with vanilla?

Even in 2010, there were much better option than Vanilla.

Like what.... PHP-Nuke ??? I mean that was the template for every gaming site..
OR phpBB. Although I would say phpBB was a better layout for a forum goes.

Simple Machines Forum (SMF) is nice as well.

The creators of the vbulletin created xenforo after they left the old project.
