[Project + Giveaway] dem/asm - A new developer community + 8 free VPS on Ryzen 9 coming soon!

Hey everyone!

Id like to introduce a project Ive been working on: dev/asm - https://devasm.pro
dev/asm is a relatively new community focused on systems programming, low-level development, Linux, software engineering, and everything related to building software.

The idea behind it is simple: bring discussions, repositories, development tools, and collaboration together in one place.
Instead of jumping between different platforms to discuss a problem, share code, compile a project, or get feedback, Id like to make dev/asm a place where developers can do all of that.

What does dev/asm offer?

The platform combines a traditional forum with development-oriented features:

  • Traditional forum structure -> categories, subcategories, topics, posts, replies, and nested discussions.
  • Programming challenges and solutions -> share problems, experiments, and approaches with other developers.
  • Automatic translation -> communicate with developers from different countries without language barriers.
  • Customizable profiles -> personalize your account and developer identity.
  • Transparent moderation -> public moderation logs, content reporting, and a community-friendly moderation approach.

Were also building an integrated development environment with:

  • Git repositories and project management.
  • Code compilation and automated testing.
  • Emulation, including graphical emulation.
  • A built-in AI-assisted code editor.
  • Customizable Git development environments.
  • API integrations.

Some features are temporarily disabled or still under development, as were continuously improving the platform.

🎁 Coming Soon: 8 Free VPS Giveaway!

To celebrate the launch and encourage more developers to join the community, were preparing a giveaway of 8 VPS instances, completely free for 3 months!

The giveaway will take place directly on the dev/asm forum and will be open to registered and active community members.

Each VPS will come with the following specifications:

Component Specification
CPU 4 vCPU - AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D
RAM 16 GB DDR5
Storage 256 GB NVMe SSD
Bandwidth 12.5 TB
Network 125 MB/s (~1 Gbps)
Initial period 3 months FREE
Optional renewal $30 for another 3 months
Available VPS 8

Host CPU specifications:
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D
- Base Clock: 4.2 GHz
- Boost Clock: Up to 5.7 GHz
- L3 Cache: 128 MB
- Single CPU Benchmark Score: 4,242
- Multi CPU Benchmark Score: 59,091

The VPS instances will run on AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D dedicated server hardware, with allocated virtual resources for each participant.
These servers should be particularly interesting for developers who want to experiment with Linux, compile software, host development projects, test applications, or simply have a temporary environment for their experiments.

What happens after the free 3 months?

Once the initial free period ends, winners will have the option to extend their VPS for the following 3 months at $30 per month.

That's $90 total for the optional 3-month extension, with no payment required during the initial giveaway period.
Renewal is entirely optional. Nobody will be required to purchase anything to participate in the giveaway.

Our goal is to provide developers with useful computing resources, give them an opportunity to experiment, and hopefully encourage long-term participation in the community.

A few important details:

  • All 8 VPS instances will be provided completely free of charge for the first 3 months.
  • Participants must be registered and active dev/asm members.

The giveaway will be hosted directly on the forum.
Winners can optionally keep their VPS for the following 3 months at $30/month ($90 total).
There is no purchase requirement to enter.
The exact starting date, selection process, and complete rules will be announced on dev/asm forum.

We want this to be a community-focused event that rewards actual participation rather than just collecting registrations.

Why am i sharing this on LowEndTalk?

Ive been following communities where people are interested in Linux, VPS hosting, self-hosting, networking, operating systems, and low-level programming.

Thats exactly the kind of audience Id love to see on dev/asm.
Im not trying to replace GitHub, Stack Overflow, or existing technical communities. My goal is to create another useful place where developers can exchange knowledge, criticize ideas, experiment, and build things together.

The project is still young, and i understand that building a community takes time.
Feedback, constructive criticism, feature suggestions, and technical discussions are all welcome.

If youre into Assembly, C, C++, Linux, compilers, operating systems, servers, or just programming in general, you're more than welcome to join us.

Thanks for reading!

Id be happy to answer any questions about the project or the upcoming VPS giveaway.

Can we use 100% CPU on the VPS?
It’s software development, so that Jenkins continuous integration platform and Docker builds are fair game right?
