Avoid CloudCone: paid IP change ignored for 3 days, account balance is a one-way street
A warning for anyone considering CloudCone's budget VPS deals — everything below is documented in my own tickets (#4875495, #5938647).
- Oct 17: Bought a $14.24/year Los Angeles VPS. The server itself is fine, but the assigned IP is specifically interfered with by my mobile carrier (verified by packet capture; unusable on mobile data, fine on WiFi).
- Oct 18: Opened ticket #4875495 asking for a free IP change. On Oct 19 support refused, blamed my ISP entirely, and pre-emptively warned that "we cannot guarantee a new IP will fix it."
- Oct 18 evening: Accepted their official terms and opened a paid IP change request (#5938647, $2 fee). It was acknowledged and queued for Operations. I even topped up $5 so the fee could be deducted. Three days later — spanning two full Los Angeles business days — the ticket has not been touched. They haven't even taken the $2.
- Tried to withdraw my remaining $5.76 account balance instead. Their terms: annual plans are non-refundable, the 7-day money-back guarantee was discontinued in June 2026, and account credit can only be spent in-house — it can never be returned to your payment method.
Lessons: a budget annual VPS here is a one-way purchase; if the IP has any problem, you're on your own; paid support tickets can sit untouched for days; never top up more than you are ready to lose. I regret this purchase completely — posting so others don't make the same mistake.
