London dedicated servers: would you pick high-clock Ryzen/i9 over cheaper older hardware?
Curious how LET users think about London dedicated-server value at the moment.
If you were choosing a London box for latency-sensitive workloads (game servers, small hosting nodes, proxies, SaaS/app workloads, etc.) would you rather have newer high-clock CPUs and NVMe, or would you still chase the cheapest older dedicated hardware?
Examples of the kind of stock I’m comparing:
- Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 64GB DDR5, 2x 1TB NVMe, 10Gbps fair-use
- i9-11900KF, 64GB DDR4, 2x 1TB NVMe, 10Gbps fair-use
- Ryzen 9 5950X, 128GB DDR4, 2x 960GB NVMe, 10Gbps fair-use
The tradeoff seems to be that the higher-clock London gear is not “low end” pricing, but it may make more sense for workloads where CPU latency, routing, and stability matter more than just getting the lowest monthly bill.
How would you evaluate this?
- CPU generation / clock speed
- RAM amount
- NVMe layout
- Port speed and bandwidth terms
- DDoS protection
- Provider reputation
- Actual route quality to UK/EU users
- Interested in practical buyer opinions rather than marketing claims.
