Seeking Long-Term Hosting Support for an Open-Source Christian Faith Platform.

jasonssunjasonssun Member
edited 9:15AM in Help

Hello everyone,

I’m an independent developer building a Christian faith platform, and I’m looking for a reliable Linux server hosting partner, infrastructure sponsor, or community supporter who can help me maintain and grow this project over the long term.

Project GitHub Repository:
https://github.com/JasonsSun/christian-platform-web

✝️ About the Project

My goal is to build an accessible online platform dedicated to the Christian faith, bringing believers together and making Christian resources available to a wider audience.

The platform is being developed to include several key features:

The Bible: Scripture reading and Bible-related resources.

Christian Hymns and Worship Music: A collection of hymns, worship songs, and related audio resources.

Video Library: Christian videos, sermons, teachings, and other faith-based content.

Live Streaming: Broadcasting and viewing live worship services, Christian events, and community gatherings.

Future Modules and Services: Additional features as the platform develops, with the possibility of adopting a modular architecture and microservices.

This is a long-term personal project. I hope to develop it into a stable, reliable, and scalable platform that can continue serving believers as its content library, user base, and functionality expand.

❤️ My Commitment: Keeping the Platform Accessible to Everyone

I want to make one important commitment to everyone who supports this project:

The platform will not charge users for access to or use of its core services. My intention is to keep it freely accessible to the Christian community and anyone who wishes to use its resources.

The purpose of this project is to make the Bible, Christian hymns, worship music, videos, sermons, and live broadcasts more accessible, without financial barriers preventing people from benefiting from these resources.

I am not building this platform to turn it into a commercial paid service. I want it to remain a project centered on faith, service, and community.

However, keeping the platform free for users does not mean that operating it is free. Servers, storage, bandwidth, backups, and live streaming all involve real costs.

I will contribute what I can personally, within my limited financial means, and I hope to find sponsors and partners who can help cover part of the remaining infrastructure expenses.

🖥️ Why I’m Looking for Hosting Support

I’m not a company, a large organization, or a well-funded development team. I’m just one individual working to build and maintain this project with limited financial resources.

Unfortunately, the smaller VPS plans I can afford may not provide enough resources to operate the entire platform reliably, particularly as video delivery, audio content, live streaming, databases, and additional services become part of the system.

At the same time, the cost of a powerful production server is more than I can comfortably afford on my own.

I’m therefore looking for a long-term hosting partner, infrastructure sponsor, or community supporter who may be willing to provide server resources, discounted hosting, partial sponsorship, or another sustainable arrangement.

I am not necessarily looking for a completely free server. I am willing to pay a portion of the monthly costs, but my budget is limited, so I hope to find a partner who can help bridge the gap.

Even partial support could make a meaningful difference in keeping this project online and allowing it to grow.

⚙️ Infrastructure Requirements and Future Development Plans

Rather than focusing on a particular VPS plan, I am looking for a reliable Linux server environment that can support the platform's current needs while allowing room for future expansion.

Ideally, the infrastructure would provide:

Sufficient CPU and RAM for the website, APIs, database, and supporting services.

Reliable network connectivity and consistent uptime.

Adequate bandwidth for video delivery and live streaming.

Sufficient storage capacity, with the ability to expand as the media library grows.

Support for Linux administration and modern deployment tools.

Flexible resource upgrades and the possibility of introducing additional services and microservices over time.

The exact specifications can be discussed based on the available resources and the most practical solution.

Our Long-Term Technical Direction

As the platform grows, I hope to gradually develop a more scalable infrastructure rather than relying on a single server for every function.

The potential future architecture may include:

Linux VPS or dedicated server: Running the website, APIs, databases, and application services.

Object storage: Storing audio files, videos, thumbnails, and other media assets, with capacity that can grow over time.

Dedicated live streaming infrastructure: Providing the computing resources, network capacity, and bandwidth required for live broadcasts, depending on stream quality and concurrent viewers.

Backup storage: Protecting databases, important configuration files, and other critical data to reduce the risk of data loss.

Modular services and microservices: Gradually separating components when necessary to improve maintainability, reliability, and scalability.

These are future development goals, not requirements that must all be implemented immediately. I hope to build the infrastructure step by step, according to the project's actual needs and the resources available.

I would be grateful for a hosting partner who could help with any part of this roadmap, whether through server sponsorship, affordable storage, bandwidth support, technical advice, or flexible infrastructure options.

🤝 How You Can Help

There are several ways to support this project:

Server or infrastructure sponsorship: Provide Linux server resources or sponsor part of the hosting costs.

Discounted hosting: Offer a sustainable hosting plan that an independent developer can afford.

Storage and bandwidth support: Help make media storage, video delivery, and live streaming more affordable.

Financial contributions: Help cover a portion of recurring infrastructure expenses.

Technical collaboration: Share expertise in Linux administration, DevOps, cloud infrastructure, networking, storage, or streaming systems.

Community outreach: Introduce the project to potential sponsors, hosting providers, Christian communities, and open-source groups.

If you are a Christian believer who feels connected to the purpose of this project, your support would be especially meaningful to me. Of course, everyone who believes in the value of this project is welcome to participate, regardless of religious background.

I am not expecting any single person or organization to cover everything. My hope is that we can work together, with each person or organization contributing whatever is practical and within their means.

If you cannot provide money, servers, or technical assistance, that is completely fine. Sharing this post, recommending the project to a potential sponsor, or helping spread the word would also be greatly appreciated.

I will remember and sincerely appreciate everyone who contributes to the project in any way.

🙏 A Personal Appeal

This project means a great deal to me. I want to continue developing it into a useful and reliable platform where people can read the Bible, listen to Christian hymns and worship music, watch sermons and faith-based videos, and participate in live Christian gatherings.

I understand that building and maintaining such a platform requires time, infrastructure, and cooperation. I am doing what I can personally, but I cannot cover every expense alone.

I am willing to contribute part of the monthly operating costs, and I am actively looking for a partner or sponsors who may be able to help with the remaining expenses.

If you are a hosting provider, server administrator, developer, community leader, or someone who would like to support an independent open-source Christian project, I would be grateful for the opportunity to connect and discuss a sustainable way forward.

👨‍💻 Looking for Developers and Open-Source Collaborators

Beyond hosting support, I am also looking for developers who may be interested in joining me to build and improve this project together.

I am an independent developer working with limited resources, and completing a platform of this scope is a significant undertaking for one person. There are many areas that could benefit from collaboration, including frontend and backend development, database design, Linux server administration, DevOps, video delivery, live streaming, security, and scalable system architecture.

If you are a developer, software engineer, DevOps engineer, or open-source enthusiast, I would love to connect with you and explore the possibility of working together.

Depending on your interests and experience, you could help with areas such as:

Frontend development: Improving the website interface, user experience, accessibility, and mobile responsiveness.

Backend development: Building APIs, business logic, user management, and supporting services.

Infrastructure and DevOps: Setting up Linux servers, deployment pipelines, monitoring, backups, and reliable production environments.

Media and live streaming: Improving audio and video management, media storage, streaming workflows, and playback reliability.

Architecture and scalability: Planning modular services and a future microservices architecture as the platform grows.

Testing, documentation, and security: Helping make the project easier to maintain, deploy, and contribute to.

My hope is not simply to find someone to do all the work for me, but to build a collaborative team in which we can learn from one another, share ideas, solve problems, and gradually turn this vision into a working platform.

I am willing to contribute my own time, effort, and financial resources within my means. I understand that everyone has different responsibilities and limitations, so I am open to different forms of collaboration, including occasional contributions, long-term open-source participation, technical guidance, or working together on specific modules.

If you are also a Christian believer, I would be especially glad to collaborate with you in building something that can serve the Christian community. However, developers from all backgrounds who are interested in the project's purpose are warmly welcome.

If this project interests you, please visit the GitHub repository, explore the current code, and feel free to reach out or contribute:

I would be very happy to meet like-minded developers and work together to complete, improve, and maintain the platform over the long term. Every contribution, whether it is a line of code, a technical suggestion, a bug fix, or a new feature, can help move the project forward.
Thank you sincerely for taking the time to read this post. Every contribution, introduction, suggestion, and act of support is deeply appreciated.

May God bless you all, and thank you for helping this project move forward.

It should be accessible now. It was previously developed as a private repository, but later I realized my individual capabilities were truly limited.

Sorry, I see what you mean. Regarding the URL https://amen.dpdns.org/, the server subscription has just expired and has not yet been renewed, so the website is currently inaccessible.

    Alright, brother.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but this post looks entirely LLM-generated. The emoji section headers and unformatted copy-paste made that very obvious.

More importantly, this reads less like a hosting request and more like an ask for a full volunteer engineering department plus an enterprise cloud sponsor. Custom live streaming and video transcoding alone would bankrupt a free project on egress and compute. What you are looking for is not an approiate scale for a one-man-team, more like LTT/floatplane level.

Anyway, how large is your user base? What amount of traffic are you expected to be getting?

If I were you, I would probably use youtube iframe (public or unlisted), supabase free as the backing db, get a small budget vps at around Black Friday, and shield it with cloudflare. FE is either a mobile app, or some static pages hosted on CF or GH.

I’ve changed it. It’s just an image—I only picked it because I thought it looked good. I never imagined you’d focus on something like that—haha!

    1. Convince your local church to adopt your software.
    2. Have the church pay for your hosting, in exchange for adding their name on your website and repository.

That’s right—I simply outlined my requirements and had an LLM refine them; I wouldn’t call this a "customized" live-streaming solution. At its core, it’s essentially a data-streaming setup, which relies heavily on transmission stability. I’m well aware that a project like this would typically require significant human or financial resources. However, my initial plan is for a small-scale rollout—targeting around a thousand users—so the data traffic won’t be massive. Since live streaming won’t be happening 24/7, the data load should remain manageable in the early stages. I previously purchased a budget-friendly VPS during the Black Friday sales, but the limited resources made the streaming module unstable—it certainly wouldn’t hold up under stress testing. As for the front end, it’s currently designed as a website, though I may eventually need to develop a mobile app or a mini-program. Doing all of this alone would be extremely slow. Looking ahead, I don’t want to be the only one working on this; I’m hoping others will get involved and use it as well.

That’s a good idea, but first you need to highlight the strengths of your project. For instance, if you’re doing live streaming but lack the proper equipment—leading to an unstable, intermittent feed—aren’t you just shooting yourself in the foot?

There is no need for me to refute your claim that I am an LLM-generated entity. I wouldn’t just conjure up a project out of thin air to deceive people; I have remained steadfast in the original purpose behind this project, and it’s perfectly fine if you don’t understand that.

I’m simply hoping for a helping hand—whether in the form of manpower or financial support. I am also contributing my own resources; it’s not as if my situation hinges solely on a single article. I’ve handled the development and deployment of projects on my own before—after all, I’m the only one who truly knows the path I’ve traveled to get here.

Wouldn't it make more sense to ask within your own Chinese-speaking community instead of coming here and relying on translators and AI to get your point across? You're only creating chances of being misunderstood, misled or trolled.

I can sponsor a server if you agree to spread to gospel of Satan.

Lucifer, The Morning Star will surely appreciate such a project.

1000x users at 1080p (4-10Mbps) = 4-10Gbps levels. Let alone the compression and real time transcoding. You are looking at 2TB/hr levels.

That means you have looked to the wrong place. You should look for other video CDNs (Fastly, Bunny, or alibaba if they have offerings). Not on LET.

I would bet $10 that your reply was also LLM-generated.
And that OP is likely trying to do all these streaming inside China. Good luck streaming Gbps of data through the GFW.

So, am I required to use this server of yours? Do you think I lack the ability to tell things apart? You’re really overestimating yourself, aren’t you? What I want is positive energy, not your negative energy.

I’m sorry to inform you that you’ve lost your bet—though, for the record, I have no intention of taking that $10 from you. While I did use an LLM for the content of the article, that doesn’t mean my comments are AI-generated. If you find the phrasing awkward, that’s simply a byproduct of using Google Translate. Every word here is the result of my own thinking; if I were using an LLM for everything, I could just have an AI handle the entire process from start to finish—not to mention that an AI wouldn’t be able to provide you with accurate, timely responses.
