ZNC6 – Free IPv6 ZNC Hosting for the IRC Community

Hi LowEndTalk,

I'd like to introduce ZNC6, a free ZNC bouncer hosting service operated by BigBastik for the IRC community.

The goal is simple: make persistent IRC connectivity accessible to users who don't have a VPS or want to run a bouncer without managing their own server.

Service links

Website: https://znc.bigbastik.com/

Register: https://znc.bigbastik.com/register

Login: https://znc.bigbastik.com/login

Features

Free ZNC hosting – Create your own bouncer at no cost.

Public IPv6 connectivity – Each account receives its own public IPv6 allocation.

Container isolation – Each user's ZNC instance runs in a separate container.

Web management panel – Start, stop and delete your instance through the web interface.

Custom IRC networks – Configure the IRC networks you want to connect to.

TLS support – Connect your IRC client through the provided TLS-enabled endpoint.

Online registration – Create an account directly through the website.

Connection details

Use the following endpoint to connect your IRC client to your ZNC instance:

Hostname: irc.bigbastik.com

Port: 48000

Connection security: TLS

Web interface: HTTPS, port 8080

Your ZNC username identifies your instance on the shared endpoint. Please follow the configuration instructions provided on the website when setting up your IRC client.

Getting started

Create an account at https://znc.bigbastik.com/register

Open the web panel and configure your ZNC instance and preferred IRC network.

Connect your IRC client using the connection details above.

Who is it for?

ZNC6 may be useful if you:

Want to stay connected to IRC when your computer is offline.

Don't have a VPS or dedicated server.

Prefer a managed bouncer over maintaining your own installation.

Want to try ZNC without additional hosting costs.

Fair use

ZNC6 is a shared hosting service. Users are expected to follow the Terms of Service, the rules of their IRC networks and reasonable resource limits.

Network attacks, internal infrastructure scanning, ban evasion and other abusive activities are prohibited. Accounts or instances that violate the service rules may be suspended or removed.

Terms of Service: https://znc.bigbastik.com/terms

Privacy Policy: https://znc.bigbastik.com/privacy

Abuse reporting: https://znc.bigbastik.com/abuse

Support

For community support, join #FreeZnc on IRCnet or use the contact page.

ZNC6 is an independently operated hosting project and is not affiliated with or officially endorsed by the ZNC developers or any IRC network.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome!

Thanks for reading, and have fun on IRC!

Seems like a fun idea but (1) you're one kernel vulnerability away from privilege escalation and host takeover because the people who are still playing around with IRC are going to be exactly the people who will run exploits just to prove that they can.

And (2) I would be very wary of using someone's bouncer especially in containers! I mean at least dumping VPS memory takes some effort from the hypervisor, not docker exec -it niks-bouncer /bin/sh.

Does ZNC allow arbitrary code execution?

You signed up just to spam this? Of all places, you've chosen to post in a forum where people likely have dozens, if not hundreds, of servers sitting idle they could easily put to use for something like this :p

If it doesn't, you aren't trying hard enough.
