Any long-term experience with VPS.Taxi, especially its LA 1G plan?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for feedback from people who have used VPS.Taxi for a while, particularly their Los Angeles VPS plans marketed toward users in mainland China.

I'm currently using their entry-level VPS at $3/month and considering an upgrade to their LA 1G plan. Their support quoted $50/year for the upgraded plan, with the following specifications:

1 vCPU

1 GB RAM

15 GB disk

500 Mbps port

1 TB monthly traffic

According to support, the upgrade can be performed in place while keeping the existing IP address, OS, software, and data.

The price seems reasonable on paper, but I'm more concerned about long-term network quality and service reliability than the specifications alone.

I'd appreciate feedback from existing or former customers, especially on the following:

1.Network stability: Have you noticed any significant deterioration in routing, latency, packet loss, or throughput over several months?

2.Connectivity to mainland China: For users in China, how does the service perform during peak hours? Which carriers and routes have you tested?

3.Uptime and maintenance: Have there been recurring outages or unexpected network changes?

4.Support and billing: How responsive is support when issues arise? Have you experienced unexpected changes to pricing, traffic allowances, or service terms?

5.Annual billing: Based on your experience, would you be comfortable paying $50 upfront for a year, or would you recommend staying on monthly billing until the service has been tested for longer?

I understand that routing performance varies by ISP and location, so individual results may differ. I'm particularly interested in firsthand experiences from customers who have used the service for at least several months.

I'm not affiliated with VPS.Taxi; I'm simply evaluating whether an annual upgrade makes sense.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

For a VPS targeting mainland China, I'd definitely check peak-hour performance before switching to annual billing. Routing matters a lot more than the advertised port speed. Does VPS.Taxi provide test IPs for China Unicom and Telecom?
