@SKRIME What do you consider fair use for the cpu and bandwidth? I assume ram and disk space are 100% usable.
Did they not allow you to do the giveaway here? Surely you'd rather have everyone bumping this thread
@sumo RAM and disk are yours to use fully, yes.
On CPU, the fair use on regular plans is about not permanently maxing out the cores around the clock, since those are shared with other VMs on the node. Normal workloads, including sustained load, are fine. If you need to sit at 100% permanently, our VDS lifts the CPU fair use clause for that.
On bandwidth there's no volume limit at all, no counter and no per-GB overage. The only constraint is that the 10 Gbps port is shared, so we don't sell sustained full line rate around the clock to a single VM.
@tzuli Giveaways have their own category here, so it wouldn't belong in this thread anyway. And keeping them apart means questions about the plans don't get buried under a few hundred entries, which makes them a lot easier to actually answer.
Are you looking at metrics, e.g. max 50% sustained CPU, max average monthly bandwidth usage 100TB?
Some providers have those. It makes it easier to understand expectations.
@sumo We do monitor CPU and bandwidth per VM, we just don't publish fixed thresholds. If you have a specific workload in mind, tell me what it looks like and I'll give you a straight answer on whether it fits before you order.
Got it, thanks. I usually go with dedicated servers to avoid potential fair use issues. Not that I've ever hit the allotted resources, I'm minimizing the potential amount of time I have to spent on support with any particular provider.
