Looking for: High-performance VPS

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a VPS to replace my current server for various reasons.

My current server is a Netcup RS 1000 G12. Its regular price is €12.92/month, although I currently have a €5 discount, so my effective price is €7.92 for the first month, then €12.92/month thereafter.

I'm currently a student from a developing country (Nepal), so I'm fairly budget-conscious. I'm hoping to find something around the €15–20/month range, preferably with monthly billing. I'm willing to consider slightly higher prices if the offer is particularly good, especially if there is a student discount, long-term discount, or other special pricing available.

I'm looking for something I can keep using long-term rather than just a temporary server.

Requirements
CPU: High single-core performance is the priority
Ryzen 9 9950X / 9950X3D preferred
Ryzen 9 7950X / 7950X3D also very interesting
Other Zen 4/Zen 5 CPUs with comparable single-core performance are welcome

CPU allocation: 2–4 strong cores is sufficient
RAM: 8–16 GB
Storage: 200–300 GB NVMe
Network: 2.5 Gbps+ (10 Gbps is ideal)
Traffic: 10 TB/month is enough
Location: Germany or Netherlands
Billing: Monthly
Virtualization: KVM preferred

Workload

The server will mainly be used for single-core-sensitive tasks. Therefore, actual CPU performance, NVMe performance, and network performance are more important to me than simply having a high vCPU count.

If you have something that doesn't exactly match the requirements but is close, feel free to suggest it.

Trial/test periods are a big plus, as I'd like to benchmark the VPS before committing.

If you offer student discounts, custom configurations, introductory pricing, or other ways to bring the monthly cost down, I'd definitely be interested.

Thanks!

    Hey @h6t9qya,

For that budget in Europe, our EPYC configurator in Eygelshoven, NL gives you 6 cores on AMD EPYC Zen 3 Milan with ECC DDR4, 16 GB RAM and 150 GB NVMe in RAID 1 at 19.39€/mo, or 17.45€/mo with code LET10. Bumping to 8 cores and 200 GB is 21.89€/mo, or 19.70€/mo with the code.

Compared to the RS 1000 G12 you'd be getting considerably more RAM and cores, and traffic has no monthly allowance at all rather than an included volume - no counter, no per-GB overage, on a 10 Gbps shared port.

Monthly billing is the default with no term required, which is the part that matters given the discount situation you're in with Netcup. No student discount as such, but longer terms take another 5, 10 or 15% off for 6, 12 or 24 months if you ever want to lock something in.

Cores, RAM and disk are set independently, so if the balance above isn't right you can shape it yourself.
