【inst.sh】how to use installpanelcf to reinstall windows iso into a linux vps (osx dmg also support)
Ever since Linux ISO support landed for inst.sh, the Windows ISO support has followed shortly afterward. Back then we stated that Windows ISO support was "not in the plan" ------ Aside from procrastination, another reason was that I wanted to hold off and implement OS‑X DMG support alongside it, and write a dedicated inst.sh release press/article at the same time.
While Linux ISO support works by reassembling the layered file system from the live ISO into a disk‑bootable file system, Windows ISO support functions by 1). extracting files from the Windows ISO onto disk, 2). injecting VirtIO drivers and unattended‑setup configurations, and 3). finally remastering the output to make it disk‑bootable. Naturally there are many edge‑case details are handled internally: you can refer to the source code under /apps/dipatch_traninstall for specifics.
This approach carries considerable limitations. When handling Windows ISOs inside the DI environment, only basic wimimage‑x operations are available. Tasks such as slipstreaming windows hotfix cannot be performed directly within DI and must be done under native Windows (Dism++,or offical tools).
Even so, it is fully sufficient for converting a Windows ISO into a disk‑bootable variant.
certainly This article only covers usage of the ISO‑support feature but not its implement details: ------ and Starting from this document, script‑based demonstrations will be dropped entirely; installpanelcf will be used instead for its fully‑visible, well‑defined workflows support advantages.
how to use
First install Debian onto your machine, then launch the online service installpanelcf page at https://inst.sh .
Log in as root, select a Windows ISO as your target, then click the long execute install button below command preview to start installation. Once debconf connects, you may open the VNC link in the upper‑right corner to monitor progress.
No extra manual intervention is required throughout the whole process.
After debconf disconnects for a short period, you can connect to the target machine via Remote Desktop. The default username is administrator and the password is inst.sh.

Have fun!!
